    Hunting with a revolver

Hey 4man, what is your load you are using for hunting deer out of your Ruger? Greg

    Hunting with a revolver

. I sure wish Iowa would follow Idaho in their thinking of these rules!! ( except I think I can take a bp revolver hunting during Muzzleloader season here in Iowa!). Greg

.45 caliber RB enough for deer?

This is the only buck that I have shot with a Muzzleloader that dropped in his tracks that I can remember. Shot him at 50 yards with a prb and 60 gr of real black. Missed my lung shot and hit him in the base of the neck and dead without a kick. Not proud for pulling my shot by at least 12” but...

    Ruger Old Army chronograph data

So is a 40 grain charge of fff Goex or 777 potent enough for close range Whitetails in a ROA? ( not trying to hijack this thread since it is about velocities). Greg

    Ruger Old Army chronograph data

Curious to know how the velocities would differ with 777 powder. Been thinking about carrying a ROA this year deer hunting for a close treestand type shot and heard 777 is a little faster. I have no experience with 777 at all at this point. Thanks for posting your results. Greg

    TC Cherokee Returns Home

If a person is lucky you will have a few really good friends in your lifetime and one good dog. I was blessed to be able to call him my friend. I have countless memories of our hunts and laughs together and will cherish those memories until we meet again someday. The Cherokee will be a constant...

    T/C rifle barrels labeling

This thread got me to wondering so I checked..........7 TC’s and only two have the warning and they differ greatly. One is a Seneca and the other a Hawken. The warning on those two are much different in size and location on the barrel. The other five has no warning. Greg 😊

    TC Cherokee Returns Home

38 years ago I spent 40 hours putting together and finishing a TC Cherokee from a kit. I hadn’t been into black powder very long at that time. I shot a couple of Iowa Whitetails and a coyote with it and then sold it to my best friend and hunting companion. He shot several deer with it over the...

    First Flinter?

My first flinter was a pre owned Pedersoli Blue Ridge (Frontier) . It had never had a ball down the barrel before I bought it. Didn’t cost an arm and a leg and has been very reliable. Only thing is.........it is so much fun to shoot that I now own a wall full of custom flinters!! I would...

    EBAY Muzzleloading Overloaded With Junk

I can’t imagine paying shipping on lead. I will be trying to sell a BUNCH of lead in the near future for my best friends widow. My buddy told me shortly before he passed that he had over 700 lbs. altho most of it isn’t soft enough for my liking. Greg

    T/C rifle barrels labeling

I think the demise of the TC sidelocks had to do with higher priced American wages that it took to produce those guns. Towards the end TC Hawkens were pretty pricey compared to the foreign competition. Greg

    EBAY Muzzleloading Overloaded With Junk

I just purchased a stainless Base Pin For a ROA this week off of EBay. Glad it was there as I called all over the country trying to find one. Seemed expensive but the gun is useless without it! Greg

Looks like if you miss the clay pidgin with your shot you might still melt them with your flame!! 😁. Greg
