    Parts for Ruger Old Army?

Thanks guys.......I did find a stainless pin this morning and got it ordered. Years ago I owned a blue ROA and never had any problems with it the year or two I owned it. Is having a spare pin or any other spare parts advisable in your opinions? I look forward to shooting and hunting with this...

    Parts for Ruger Old Army?

Got to see the ROA. It is stainless and the loading rod pin ( I think that is what it is called) is indeed broken. The rest of everything is in good shape. So far I have found a new pin on Flebay but it is blue and not stainless. I have called the businesses that were recommended but no luck...

Ballshooter, I assume that is a walnut stock? Is that an Investarms or Pedersoli made GPR? Greg

Ok, what is the best shot/shots you have seen or accomplished?

While still hunting with my buddy I stopped him and asked him to stay still while i made a shot on a squirrel 75 yards away with my .50 caliber Hatfield. That has been my most memorable Muzzleloader shot. Greg

    The Ruger New/ Old Army

I was thinking around 40 grains and keeping my shots to 25 yards or preferably closer........like 10-15 yards. Yes, I would use it as a primary weapon but not if it would be too marginal. Greg

    The Ruger New/ Old Army

Would a fully charged ROA filled with 777 be strong enough for Iowa Whitetails?? I owned one years ago but never felt it powerful enough shooting real black. It was very accurate tho!! Greg

    Parts for Ruger Old Army?

My best friend and hunting companion recently passed away. I am planning on buying his ROA. I believe the gun is in pieces in a box because he broke the ramming mechanism on it a few years ago. I don’t know exactly what will need replaced but think the rod is bent too. What are my chances of...

    Choosing a caliber/barrel for a flintlock

I like my 42” swamped barrel. But like Loyalist Dave stated I too prefer a straight tube for my unsupported target shooting............but I do that with a 38-39” barrel. Front heavy and holds very well. Greg

    Choosing a caliber/barrel for a flintlock

It is a Virginia from Pecatonica assembled by Mike Brooks. 42” swamped Green Mountain barrel. Sweet shooting and holds solid. I had shot many bucks here in Iowa with my percussion rifles over the years but this was my first flintlock buck. Greg 😀

Did you ever put cardboard in your shoe . . .

My wife was fly fishing last year and when she lost the only fly she had with her I tied one up with pieces of an old bow string, hay twine from our barn and a blue jay feather we found on the ground. Caught the heck out of hybrid bluegill and LMB with that fly!!

Factory built vs kit build value

Value wise the kit guns from TC don’t normally bring quite the money that the factory guns do. There may or may not be a difference in quality as that is mostly determined by the assembler. Two of the major considerations to me when determining what i consider the quality of a gun is accuracy...

    My Kibler SMR is shipping

When did Jim start rifling his own barrels? I thought he was using Rice barrels. Greg

    Good price for a Pedersoli?

I would think $600 would not be out of line. Greg

    Richland Arms "michigan"

I have shot many deer with any of my .45’s. Round ball, maxi ball, or maxi hunter. Hit them in the vitals and they work as well as my .50’s. I use 60-80 grains of fff depending on the rifle and the projectile being used. Greg
