Which model Traditions do you have? I have 3 Traditions rifles and they all have a fly. They all have double triggers also.

Recommendations on a 1861 Springfield kit.

I would say Pedersoli is the better quality.

Recommendations on a 1861 Springfield kit.

About the only kit I'm aware of is imported by Traditions https://www.traditionsfirearms.com/product/1861-springfield-musket-.58-caliber-rifled-build-it-yourself-kit They're fairly new to the market so can't say what the quality is yet. As far as where to buy whoever has the lowest price I guess.

Springfield Stalker quality compares to...? Recommended for hunting?

Hey that's a pic of my rifle! ;) Like I said mine doesn't have a telescopic ramrod so I don't really get why some have one....

Springfield Stalker quality compares to...? Recommended for hunting?

I shoot a .440 ball with .010 patch over 50gr of Goex fff. I really have to whack the ball hard to get it started.

Springfield Stalker quality compares to...? Recommended for hunting?

A friend gave me a .45 Stalker a few months ago. The quality is excellent. The stock nipple was a little buggered up so I replaced it with a Hot Shot nipple, same size as a T/C. My Cannon Barreled Pistol.

That's a great looking pistol! Think I've seen it in at least one of your videos. Must be a hand full to handle with a heavy load.

Hopefully the winner of the show stays out of prison long enough to build the rifle I ordered from him the other day ;)

That's one fine looking rifle you got there! Very nice work.

    TV OF INTEREST

The whole bayonet thing was just odd and had nothing to do with a long rifle. You didn't miss the making of the lock since they did kinda skip over that. I did order a rifle from the winner the other day so maybe it's value will increase rather than decrease. ;)

    Seating the ball

I was also taught to bounce the ramrod. Over the years I just got out of the habit of doing it and adopted the soft crush method. I didn't notice any difference in accuracy between the two methods.

    A good bore light?

Hey thanks for the idea! I just ordered one for $1.45 for my .45. I bought the Traditions light off Amazon but it is just for .50 cal and up. With my Amazon points it was free!
