    May 2022 Postal Match

I totally missed this shoot. I am in the process of building a mobile chicken coop that had little or no plans outside the basic frame. Hopefully I am in for June though, targets look great

    April 2022 Postal Match

Here is my attempt for April. Nothing stellar here but I had a great time. My printer was running out of ink so when I printed it was lighter than it looks in the photo, and I hate to admit it, but I had my small binoculars out and studied the target at 25 yds for a few minutes before making the...

    March 2022 Postal Match

Ok team, here is my feeble entry after missing the February shoot, and lack of practice really shows. Just over half of the shots in a scoring situation. I was shooting my Traditions 50 cal Penn Long rifle, .490 PRB propelled by approx 63gr of Goex 3FG

It is supposed to be really nice here this weekend, so I am going to give it a shot or seven. Good luck to all

    February 2022 Postal Match

Totally discouraged that I did not get to shoot this one, I looked forward to it all month and life kept throwing curve balls, great job everyone. I will now have to take my frustrations out on the march target

    Musket caps

In my TC Hawken and Traditions PA Long Rifle, I had to use musket caps (with musket nipples of course) to get reliable fires using Pyrodex P and RS and they were totally reliable at that point. Once I switched over to BP I switched back to #11s and they both still go boom every time

    Help with Kibler decision

Appreciate the thread. I have recently been drooling over flint locks in general and I only fired one TC about 26 years ago, went down the percussion road, but man those Kibler's are sure beautiful. I wonder how long it will be before I take the plunge, but it feels like I am getting close. I'll...

How cold is too cold for you to shoot?

Low to mid 30s with no or low wind is my limit. In the low 40s with wind chill will cause me to walk away too. But, like Nor'Easter said, it can get too hot to shoot also, when the sweat is pouring. Hunting I can hack the cold temps still, at least down to the low 20s

    January 2022 Postal Match

Attached and emailed. Shot the Penn Long Rifle, 50 cal, .490 patched round ball in front of 60 gr of 3FG. Shot yesterday, snow on the ground temp, warmed up to 36 degrees, very little breeze

Over on the sister site there are a few folks who posted data, mostly factory data, but it might be of help as a comparable for a starting point

    Gunsmith of Williamsberg 1969

I just watched it about a week ago, super interesting, launched me on watching several of the same type, and several of the Kibler videos. I don't have a flinter but I sure want one now

Buckhorn rear site for TC Hawken

I tried removing the aperture but did not gain much in advantage, but then again I did not highlight the front sight either. SDSmlf and CT shooter have kind of what I was thinking I like the buckhorn the best, but I was hoping for elevation adjustment, it is what it is though.
