    Wire bolt/trigger spring

Back to answer the OP's original question. I have tried the Wolff spring and found it fiddly to get it to touch the trigger surface. I went back to the a new flat spring and the took a 4mm flat washer and ground it down to a .015 inch thickness (I used my drill press and a magnet to do this...

    Lock Upgrades on Pedersolis

My issue with the Kentucky lock is the horrible geometry. I sent mine to Brad Emig to have it tuned and adjusted. It came back better than I expected and the lock and ignition is much faster. He fiddled with the springs to get a better frizzen to mainspring ration and heated and bent to cock...

1851 Navy repro (Uberti) locks up when I lowerthe hammer onto a safety pin. How to fix?

I had the same issue with my Pietta 1851 reproduction. Corrected it by judiciously grinding the bolt arm that contacts the cam on the inside curve. Grind and fit, grind and fit until it works correctly. Be sure not to let it get hot and deburr between fittings.

    Pedersoli Kentucky .50 Thoughts ?

I currently own this gun in .45 cal. The lock had to be tuned to fire and not eat flints. The trigger pull is horrible and had to be tuned. After that it is a pretty good shooter. Mine was from a kit so I was able to shave off all the extra wood for a cleaner look. couldn't do much about...

CCI # 11 Magnum Cap Not Fitting

Proper statistical process control at CCI should point to a forming die wear problem before the lot goes to sale. That is, of course, if the die is the correct size to begin with. My opinion on cap fit is find a nipple / cap combo that works because there is no real standard to dictate the...

Grease or Oil on the Arbor

I have used both, lithium grease for a while and oil now. I prefer oil since the fouling buildup in front of the cylinder isn't mas bad. What do you guys use and why?
