Next Long Arm to Round Out the Collection

For military, I'd go with a musket, not a rifle, even for militia. Brown Bess or Charleville for revolution, M1795 Springfield for war of 1812. I'm not sure, but a Charleville might cover both.

    Regimental Quartermaster Gettysburg

I haven't been there myself in a bit over a year, but I always stop in when I go. They do have a website, should tell what they have in stock.

    Musket lock plate identification

It's from a Brazilian light minie rifle. Sort of a 2 band Enfield clone. Originally made in Belgium for Brazil, they were bought up by the North for the Civil War. BRAZILIAN LIGHT MINI RIFLE — Horse Soldier

    My Traditions Kentucky Pistol Build

Looks good, but I do believe the rear sight should be turned around. The flat side should go toward your eye.

    Worth The Risk?

I'd put that money toward something better.

    My Traditions Kentucky Pistol Build

When you get a replacement, I believe I would open up the inlet a little rather than risk breaking another one.

    Hackberry Build Trade Gun

I know they are later because I have a Model T Ford, and if you have anything with phillips screws on one it is akin to heresy!

    Hackberry Build Trade Gun

I love the wood, but I would for sure swap out the phillips screws for straight slotted, they weren't invented until the 1930's.

    I think I need a new lock.

I'd say the geometry of the lock is just all wrong. I think having someone good with locks work it over is the best option. I believe a member here, ColonialRifleSmith, works over Indian made muskets.

    Rogers rangers musket photos please?

I like the long barrel, even in heavy brush. My Carolina gun, some guy in Iowa made for me,, suits me fine.

    Kentucky teardown project progress

If you sand it, use a sanding block and be careful not to lose the lines of the lock panels and cheek piece. You don't want to round over the edges.

    The Rifle Shoppe

Yep, first thing I tried but came up with many totally different guns, and I don't know which the Rifle Shop parts set is supposed to replicate. I know years ago I had a printed catalog and I believe it had pictures of each gun.

    The Rifle Shoppe

I have been thinking about an earlier gun than is usually available from other sources, so I was looking at The Rifle Shoppe. How the devil are you supposed to know what the type of gun looks like when they don't have pictures of many of them posted? I inquired about a printed catalog but I...

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

100 yards 45 cal percussion cap MiRoku from the 70s

Are you using patched round ball? Maybe try it at 50 yards and experiment with different powder charges and patch thickness.

    What muzzle loader is this

Yep, that would be an Indian made gun.

    I think I need a new lock.

You just aren't going to find a lock for it, I don't see any production lock fitting it. You will probably have to have your lock reworked by somebody. I know there is a member here who works on the Indian made gun locks, but don't remember who it is. If you do some searching you should be...

    Double barrel Brown Bess?

I can't see how it ever could have been used in that configuration, and I don't think it has anything to do with the actual gun. I expect somebody just jammed a piece of pipe down the barrel long after it's last use.

    Unmentionables

Absolutely, there is nothing wrong with them and they all have their place, but this isn't it. This is a traditional muzzleloader site, there is even a sister site to discuss modern type muzzleloaders and lots of sites to discuss modern type firearms. This one is for traditional though per the...

    What muzzle loader is this

I've never seen an original with the crown in front of the hammer, in fact the only repro I have ever seen with the crown in front was an Indian made repro.
