Does Thompson Center make a 45 cal. barrel in flintlock ?

Just got done searching through my photo archives for pictures of the one I had; apparently after selling the rifle I had one of those why do I still have these photos moments.....delete. Too bad, would have liked to have shown it, it was a fine looking rifle.

Does Thompson Center make a 45 cal. barrel in flintlock ?

They did in the early years; I had a four digit serial number Hawken model in .45 at one time. However, by at least the 1988 catalog they were no longer showing any rifles or accessory barrels in flintlock that were anything but .50 caliber.

    Age of black powder?

I'm going to guess 70's. I actually got mine at a small gun show when I spotted a near mint Lyman Remington .36 that date codes to 1972. The gentleman was asking $200 for it; I hemmed and hawed....do I really need another pistol with blurry sights on it....gee, it is in really nice...

    Age of black powder?

I have three metal cans (red paint) with paper labels that say Hodgdon Black Powder FFFG; they have plastic spouts with flip caps. As to dating these I see no codes; but, one still has a retailers price sticker @ $2.25; so probably back from when my job payed me $1.90/hr.

    2019 Alberta Elk Hunt

May your hunts together be crisp and refreshing; may Faith's sights be always clear (you may have to name her sights Hope) and her spark deserving. Thank you again friend for this stirring tale; many will pray to hunt like a Walkingeagle. Bill

    2019 Alberta Elk Hunt

How about "Faith", or "Hope"; your story evokes thoughts of both for me. I really enjoyed it. May God bless you. Bill

Pedersoli Frontier Trigger - Question and Information

I didn't mean to imply that you lacked any ability in basic gunsmithing; I was just trying to be helpful. Now if you ever want to tear down a gun and put it back together so that it doesn't function let me know, I'd probably be able to help you with that....although maybe not if I was actually...

    Help, I'm browning!

OK, I can't resist any longer....do you suppose that if we were leave the Vicks Vaporub in we could "open up" the bore a little; say take a barrel intended for .490 round ball up to .495? Maybe even use a heavy dose of Vicks and take a .50 up to .54? Would patch lube tend to run and drip in a...

Pedersoli Frontier Trigger - Question and Information

First off, I do believe that the unwritten rules of the forum require that you have at least one "loose screw" to participate; that being said I will tell you what I see on my Frontier (.36). The hole behind the set trigger on my gun has a screw end visible (no slot) in it. The next hole has a...

    TC Kit barrel question

I think you answered your own question; if you had accepted his criticism of K barrels as generally held, you may have accepted his low-ball offer.

September has an R in it.....

Had a dream last night that I was hunting; it was horrible; I was dripping sweat and missed the trophy of a lifetime by more than foot! Then it dawned on me, I had mixed up temperature conversion with ballistic calculation; I was overdressed and God only knows if I held too high or too low. Too...

    Inletting patch box

Yep; loaned a gun to cousins once, returned the next month to find it being "stored" in an open barrel on the open air front porch.

New to me CVA 50 cal percussion

Got my CVA Frontier a couple of years back for $25; thought it was going to be for parts only as the bore was a fuzzy orange from muzzle to breach. I scrubbed it out with Scotch Brite to the point that there were only a couple of little freckles left near the muzzle. It shot fine, so I took some...

    Checking out a Hawken

That would appear to explain that first "lucky" shot.

I knew I left my 20/15 somewhere; I would like it back please.

    Renegade Front Sight Help

You must be a young man. If you file that sight and keep that rifle there will probably come a day when you will need to ask if there is any way to un-file it because your old eyes can no longer see it.

I know about the dry ball club; but is there a no ball club?!?

I think I'll choose to stick with one confession at a time; yes, I am a member of the "powder only club"; that sounds better than "no ball club"; and I choose to look on the bright side, it didn't open my group size at all.

WANTED Wedges for CVA Mountain Rifle

Look at the TOW part # Key-CVA-I ; the title says for their shotgun, but the description includes the Mountain Rifle. I just measured one of my Mountain Rifle wedges and the measurements match with the TOW part being just slightly longer as designed to be shortened to individual fit.

    Going public!

Nate, Did your L.O. state flat out that you are violating the law? Or, as you write, did he merely state that you should not "assume" that what you do is legal (in other words, he doesn't really know either; but hey, there has been a complaint....)? It would seem to me that if their...

    Leave it loaded?

My first thought was that it was probably a universal color code for "Explosive; Do Not Irritate"; but, then I saw it is a color code for Allergy to medicine.
