Put the soldering iron on the screw and give it time to get hot. Then add a drop or 2 of penetrating oil, it will suck into the threads. patience is required.

    CVA Percussion Mountain Rifle .58

I had one of the original mountain rifles back in 1978, mine also would mis fire after a couple of rounds. I had to remove the cleanout screw and open the flash channel with a small drill bit. I do not remember what size, but that cured the problem. Be carefull not to damage the threads in the...

    Found a nice Plainsman

The only thing on the gun that was good is the lock, I don't think a CVA lock is worth $50.00

    Found a nice Plainsman

I was at a local antique store today and found a really nice CVA Plainsman for $50.00. No rust, good wood, complete. Only problem? It was made into a lamp, drilled a hole through the barrel, and breech plug. The stock was nailed to a peice of wood to hold it upright. BUMMER

    Bullet puller!!!

Push down and screw it in a couple of turns and pull, repeat as nessesary. Is the bore clean or fouled? If fouled, run a slighty damp patch down to break up the fowling.

    Bullet puller!!!

If you are using the ramrod to pull a ball, you are going to have bigger problems when the tip pulls off or the rod breaks. I use a solid aluminum rod with a T handle, you need to be able to push it in to tighten the puller, and then pull it out. OR trickle some powder under the nipple and shoot...

    Wedges fall out on GPR

I would put a slight bend in the wedge, not the slot. It's alot easier to replace the wedge if you screw up.

Price check on a stainless Ruger old army

Was at a local gun show this morning and saw a used ROA in stainless, The seller wanted $1100.00. I picked up an unfired blued ROA 2 years ago for $299.00 at my local dealer. Did they go up that much because they are discontinued? or was the dealer a little optimistic? I passed on the gun.
