I CHALLENGE All the naysayers that say thier short arbor Uberti shoots as good as one that is set up correctly!

17 yards is pretty close, but I couldn't do that with any hand gun.

    Pietta vs Dixie Pietta

It looks likes some of the "Dixie" Piettas have slightly different features than a standard Pietta. Like the aged looking Army Model. Same basic guns though.

To much is made of short arbors

Did the U.S. Gov't buy Colt company after Sam died?

To much is made of short arbors

But not brilliant enough to keep Colt from dropping it to go to a solid frame.

He means the force on the barrel in relation to the frame. There is no force pushing them together, just apart.

    Numrich Arms "boot pistol" question.

I am interested for sure, I think we are supposed to do that through the for sale section anyway. Those holes don't go all the way through, do they? I don't suppose they do, but I thought I should ask.

To much is made of short arbors

Gosh Mike, it sure seems like the slot in the arbor positions the wedge, not the end of it. If you take the wedge out, the barrel just slides forwards don't it?

Match pistols or revolvers to share?

What is that clamp thingy on the front sight of the revolver?

What French Colonial says sure sounds right to me. The arbor can't control forward movement of the barrel, only the wedge can do that. I think an engineer would say the whole idea of making the gun in two pieces was not so good anyway.

To much is made of short arbors

Is it possible to buy a new Uberti 1851 or 1860, take it out of the box, clean the grease off, load it correctly and have it shoot reliably and accurately without any concern about how long the arbor is? They were made with a loading ram so that you didn't have to take it apart to reload it. If...

    SM SMR Built & Shot

Wiscoaster had a lot of trouble building that rifle, but he ended up with a shootable gun that looks decent and learned stuff along the way. Nothing wrong with that!

1858 Remington New Army "Born On Date"?

According to the Donald Wares book, it looks like #57425 was made in February of 1864

1858 Remington New Army "Born On Date"?

A lot of people wouldn't like the fact that it has been refinished, (that "patina" stuff). Whoever did it did a really nice job - it looks great to me! Old Mr. Remington would be proud of it. I have two books on these revolvers, and will try to find something about that serial number.

    The Old H&A Underhammer Pistol

I'd want one for sure - 36 caliber with a good quality fast twist barrel. Oh, and a nice adjustable rear sight. For about $300. I think I'm just dreamin.

No, you can't ship black powder pistols or handguns via the USPS.

There's a difference between what is legal and what the usps uses for it's regulations. The usps doesn't arrest people, they just refuse to ship certain things. Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness isn't in the constitution, it's in the declaration of independence. The constitution is...
