    Cylinder Throating

You mean with the barrel removed, I am sure. That would for sure be the right way (assuming the bore is concentric with the threads - which it will be I think). A tool sharpening shop could take a little off the reamer if you really wanted .451 With that rigid setup and a sharp reamer, it could...

How to figure ball diameter for your guns bore

I have that book too, and found that part. It says "The round ball as it drops from the mould should be the bore diameter minus one thickness of the patch material". That would work good, and not be overly tight I think.

    Cylinder Throating

I wanted to do that too, I bought a 29/64 chucking reamer which is .453. A little bigger than what I wanted, but pretty close. I have a small milling machine and used that to be sure I was over center on each one. I ran the reamer down only as far as a seated ball would be, (don't remember how...

    Handguns topics

Those are things to be brought up to the owner or moderators - the rules just say no conversion cylinders or metallic cartridges are to discussed. The threads that are being objected to have gone completely over to that stuff. Other people have been reprimanded or had their comments deleted for...

Mad L. - That was very well stated!!

Appropriate cylinder gap for Colt revolvers

This stuff sure makes the top strap type design look good to me.

What Method for Removing Broken Screw?

If you can drill a teensy hole down the center of a brass screw imbedded down in wood, you might as well drill it the rest of the way out.

Inherited Rifle - What is it?

I wonder if the person who built the gun or the original owner would be happy to see it rusty, dirty, and not working.

    Finally, the truth

That Brie Whiz is still hard to get. I asked at The Cheese Store, but they said they were out. They were out of cheddar too. They had gotten in some nice mozzarella, but the cat ate it.

    Finally, the truth

I'm still hoping for another chapter, about Mr. Capi. Discovering the truth about these things is important. Truth has many layers, like an onion. Cherish those who seek the truth, but beware of those who claim to have it.

Actual Weights of Different Powders Measured by Volume

I suppose I would suggest using volume units, like cubic inches or cubic centimeters.

Actual Weights of Different Powders Measured by Volume

It seems wrong to me to say "xx grains, measured by volume". Grains are a unit of weight, there are plenty of ways to express volume, like cubic inches, cubic centimeters, gallons, etc. Why do it wrong when it's so easy to do it right?

    Target Pistol

I think the underhammers, like the Pedersoli Carlton or Cook are an ideal single shot target pistol design. Simple, and almost foolproof ignition - nothing to distract your vision - why couldn't an American company make something like that?

    No patches to read

I wonder if the patches might sometimes remain stuck to the ball. That would affect accuracy, and maybe give me an excuse for missing besides being a lousy shot.

    Do they make uberti 1858 5.5inch 36cal?

Dixie still shows Uberti 36's available, but not the short barrel version.

    Barry Lyndon movie fakery.

Concerning the Krag rifle in Hogan's Heros, the german army could easily have had Krags, not the U.S. 30-40s but the actual Danish or Norwegian ones. They would have issued as second tier weapons.

    Chestnut Tree

I am confused about chestnut trees and buckeyes. When I was a kid in Wisconsin there were lots of what we called chestnut trees that had big green nuts in the fall. Under the green skin was a real nice looking dark brown nut with a white "eye". People talked about eating chestnuts but the ones...
