    Which Pouch n’ Horn?

Whatever I've done, wherever I've gone with the re-enacting hobby, one of the lessons I've learned is that simplicity transcends time & place. A simple D or square shaped bag can be used with any impression from 1750 to the eve of the Civil War. Same goes for powder horns.

    WANTED Flintlock tools

Much depends on whether or not you want something that looks of the period, or is purely functional. For purely functional purposes, take a paperclip and straighten it out a bit. That works magnificently as a vent pick. A screwdriver can be ground or filed down to fit the cock jaw screw and...

What do you carry your fire kit in?

Right size, right shape, still has the modern hinges on it, so it seems. That's the detail I'd have changed if I could work my will.

Has anyone built a lock from this book

How much does the book cost? Where is it sold? Amazon, perhaps? Unless it is outrageously priced, or out of print, it might be worth it to add it to your library. Books are an underrated resource in this digital age we live in. Looks like it was self-published. I looked up the Lulu site, and...

Building a British Pattern 1800 Rifle (Baker)

When I was a kid, we had amid all the trees in our yard one English walnut tree. This was in Oregon, USA. So yeah, I suppose the species can be grown almost anywhere if the conditions are right. My goal is someday to take an English walnut (J. regia) plank and build a bog standard contract...

Sounds eerily like the joke we tell here in Kansas about Oklahoma, and Nebraska...depending on the season, don't ya know.:D

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I spent the morning cutting out a gun sock from a military surplus blanket for my fusil de chasse. I had it sewed up by suppertime, deciding to sew it by hand rather than mess with setting up the sewing machine.

    Pinned stock removal

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Can you remove the lock without first extracting the ram rod? The forward lock bolt may be the culprit. If this is the case, remove the ram rod first, then you'd be able to remove the pins.
