Just received my new (to me) Lyman Trade rifle in 50 caliber. I'll be on the hunt for patches, and round balls to work up a load for hunting season. I have a 45 and 50 caliber, I wonder if I can think up a believable reason to buy a 54 so the wife doesn't make me sleep on the couch again! LOL
You can try the "but all the other kids have a .54, I'll be the only one in the club without one" lol

Been working on putting together my annual summer time 1780's KY trekking video.
I'll get it done and post it in a few weeks.....

fussed about with the Kentucky. finished inletting the trigger guard after twisting the tail on the trigger i made so it didn't hit the bow. drilled and pinned the trigger guard.
inlet the side plate and polished it. reduced the Moulding around the lock and sanded the nose cap sanded the forearm flush with nose cap.
started inletting the toe plate but buggered that up. scraped the screw up off and started over. got it partially inlet. scraped the cheek piece some to give some concavity to it. ran out of steam.

tried some 23 year old powder that we had picked up in a auction lot of muzzleloader stuff. new old stock 3f LIDO powder I've never seen stuff like this off the rest it shoots 3-4" high at 25 yds ! ! definitely not using it for targets as I have plenty of 3f goex, not changing my measures or sights on my guns. maybe I'll keep it around for deer hunting? currently deer rifle sighted in for 100 yds dead on with 70grains of goex 3f round ball or buffalo bullet makes no difference might give me another 25+ yds dead on
