I like the .50, been shooting it for a long time. Just recently acquired the .54 due to game laws (Elk). It's got a touch more thump with full house loads but not terribly so.

I still haven't found the Verner/Bucks Co. .40 yet and as soon as that happens then on to a left-handed "Fuuzzee" or fowler, then a SXS 12 perc gun...then... heck, I don't know...I am sure I will think of something! 🤣
Yeah,
I am pretty much gunned up, especially with unmentionables. There is one out there that I am still looking for a nice little side x side 20 gauge.
Great movie! I accept it for what it is, "entertainment" and enjoy the attempts at keeping it as real as possible given the context. They tried. The humor though is absolutely fantastic! I have seen it many times. I think the only scene that I just never get, is the one where Keith is in...
In Spellmans book about the "The Old 300", Stephen F. Austin gave a rifle to William S. Lewis for some work. It was said to be, "a steel-barreled rifle that fit the bill although the molds, wipers, etc., were missing." That was 1821.
I had a A fast twist Lyman GPR .50 that I fed conicals and loose T7. Killed a few deer with it. So I have some left. Hogdon select worked well also but you had to clean her quick just like regular Pyrodex.

I could give a flip whether it’s cool or not. I prefer real black, but will use T7 or Pyrodex if needed. Who cares what you put in your rifle, if someone gets their shorts twisted about that then they must be a miserable lot!
We do red/pinto’s and rice all the time. For us it’s a simple matter of typical seasoning ham hocks/salt pork and long grain rice. My folks down around Shreveport go all out Cajun.

Ha! I just assumed you knew cuz you do all those other ones. It was the grand opening of the visitors center and Austin’s Birthday. I’ll PM you the contact info for next year’s event.
