    Merit Optical Attachment

I have had the Merit Optical attachment for several years and really think it makes a difference for my eyes in seeing the sights and targets better. However, lately the rubber suction cup that sticks it to the shooting glasses is having a hard time staying on, particularly if the weather is...

How Do You Fill a Horn?

I did the same thing years ago. Use the ear cone that hooks on the magnified light. Small enough to fit in my bag and use the regular spout nozzle on my can

    Goex is a go!

Welcome Karl to the Forum. I can't wait to announce that Estes will continue the GOEX powder legacy at our next monthly roundball shoot here in Louisiana. Best of luck my friend. Trux

I just received this from Estes Rockets about the GOEX plant!!!!!!!!!

I am just glad that GOEX is still being made in America and here in Louisiana - hopefully safely and at a profit that will allow the company to make decisions like providing free or discounted youth powder based on good business judgment. That decision can be made only if the company can make...

    GOEX Update (again)

Interesting that their agent for service of process is located in the building over from my new office in Lafayette, LA. But that is simply a "service" and that agent would have no clue about the company's business. The Secretary of State site does indicate that Minden, LA is the company's...

Does your state have a Flintlock ONLY season?

In Louisiana, no "just" flintlock season. In fact, Louisiana calls it "primitive firearms" season which allows any sort of muzzleloading weapon including slug shotguns (min. caliber .44) and also single shot breech loaders like 45-70 (min. cal. .35). Thus, it ain't a flintlock only season here.

    Dutch Schultz

I am glad that someone updated on Dutch’s status. Just this weekend one of our shooters hit a 50 using a dry patch method and I commented that he was well taught by Dutch. God bless him.

    Mr Chuck Dixon a Giant

My deepest sympathies to the Dixon family. I met Mr. Dixon back in 2005 on my first trip from Louisiana to Pennsylvania, which later became an annual trek. Greg was pulling down some handmade flintlocks from the ceiling (it was the week or so after the annual Dixon Gunmaker's Fair that year)...

    Black Powder Finally Arrived

Yes my powder from Buffalo Arms ordered in mid November just shipped to Louisiana yesterday. Had called them a week ago and very nice man advised that they were shipping the maximum amount of powder that FedEx would allow per day and were running behind on orders, but it was going to come.

    Powder Shipped

When I spoke with Buffalo Arms several days ago about my Nov 19 order, they indicated that they were shipping the maximum legal limit daily and was only up to Nov 16 orders. Patience is a virtue - when you have powder supply backup at home.

what an outstanding rifle. The carving is excellent with the smooth transitions. Something to surely be cherished. Good shooting to ya.

    Greetings from Louisiana

Hello all from Louisiana. I am the secretary/treasurer of our muzzleloader club [Bayou Muzzleloaders] which was formed around 1994. Since the time I was a kid back in the 50s and 60s, I had always wanted to own and learn how to shoot a Kentucky Flintlock Rifle like Davey and Daniel. Well...

    Olde Eynsford Black Powder

Still hard to find Swiss right now. As for as OE, I noticed that it burns cleaner that regular Goex but simply looking at my hands after a match. With Goex, after loading 30 rounds, hands are very black with the wiping between shots, etc. OE, much less and with Swiss, my hands are nearly...

    Olde Eynsford Black Powder

2Lbs at $45 a pound shipped! Just order some from Powder Valley as there seems to be no where else that has BP right now. I have used it for as long as it was available alternating with Swiss. It is not quite as clean as Swiss but shoots just as consistently in my flintlock
