Olde Eynsford Black Powder

I have just ordered 2 lbs of 3F Goex Olde Eynsford Black powder from an internet source. In my 40 plus of of Black powder shooting I have only used straight Goex. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the two products and provide any guidance for substituting in the Olde Eynsford Powder? Thanks!

Old Eynsford is Goex with a more consistent grain size. They also finished it longer in the machinery. I have some that I haven't tried yet. It is supposed to be a little less dirty. You can use the same loads.

The older among us will recall the year we found out that GM used the same engine and drivetrain across its product line. Until then Chevies and Buick’s were completely differently we thought.
Back when there were Regional breweries my area had two lagers. Narragansett and Kruger. One of the brew masters taught a class at the local college. At class one evening he was asked what the difference between the two was. They both came from the same vats he replied Just depends what bottle line was being runthat day.
I’m always suspicious when a company sells two grades of the same product.

Its cleaner than Goex and close to Swiss. I like it. I would buy it again if it was still made. Tom in VT if you were closer to Co id give you a lb.

Midway. Good luck. They have a two pound limit. This is probably to prevent hoarders and profiteering. I agree with the philosophy if that is the reason for midway USA’s limit.

OE was formulated to go head to head with Swiss as an American equivalent.

I have quite a bit of it and it shoots well. I cant tell a difference between it and Swiss in the small bores that I have fired it in. It is cleaner than standard Goex. When I purchased mine around a year ago a full case of Goex was $375 if I picked it up and a case of Goex Olde Eynsford was $400 so it was worth it to try. I really like it.

I like OE. I found that it did make a big difference in my flintlocks, but noticeably better in my unmentionable buffalo rifles. I've got a fair bit of regular GOEX 3f. I probably should grab some OE....

Powder Valley has GOEX and Olde Eynsford in stock both 2 and 3F but price has gone up.

OE is a slight remake of the Goex Express, slight change in recipe, and screened using the same F sizes as Swiss.
It's fast and it fouls pretty soft.
To date it's been very consistent in lot to lot batches.I've been shooting it since Jerry Dean at Powder Inc. got the very first case and sent me 5 lbs.
Hopefully some one with good intentions buys the Goex brand and keeps it going.

2Lbs at $45 a pound shipped! Just order some from Powder Valley as there seems to be no where else that has BP right now. I have used it for as long as it was available alternating with Swiss. It is not quite as clean as Swiss but shoots just as consistently in my flintlock
