    What’s this vent liner?

I believe that is the RMC OxYoke touch hole liner.

    Bore Condition Opinions

Don't buy that rifle hoping it may work. It may, but that is pretty bad and there are much better out there waiting on you.

CLOSED Thompson Center Dual Set Trigger(s) - Tuned/Smoothed - Early Type

Steve, I would be guessing without seeing a picture or two of the trigger group out of the stock. My best guess is when the rear trigger was removed, the person also took out any and all springs with it. That would basically allow the front trigger to move w/o any resistance until it contacts...

Historically accurate example of Flint, Full stock, hooked breech, barrel wedges?

Togo, where do you get your information that Kibler uses a Green Mountain barrel? I think Kibler did use GM blanks at one time to produce their own barrel, but I am fairly sure the barrels are made by Rice now.

FOR SALE Thompson Center Cleland Match Rifle and Factory Box - Modified Trade

I have heard they originally went for the $600-700 range. I thought I was lucky to get this one at $1,400 as some apparently have sold for more. I really like the Cleland's for match shooting, but I now have too many, so I am letting one go and chose the one with the factory box thinking a...

    mule ear questions

Tom, the quarter, half cock issue can be best described as that is what the lock builder or the rifle owner wanted. There is really no reason it is any different than any other lock. The thought of the hammer sticking out too far, may have been part of the reasoning. The nipple does screw...

Muzzleloading shops and ranges in Huntsville, AL?

The Alabama Territorial Match at Brierfield Iron Works is May 17-19 this year. It is a state park with camping right at the range. Great people and some who live in the area you are moving to. If you need more information, PM me.

FOR SALE Thompson Center Cleland Match Rifle and Factory Box - Modified Trade

Decided to bring this one back up. The shooting/match season starts around here in March so I will see if it moves here before I carry it to the matches. I really don't need any other rifles (trades) but I will still consider a TC Pennsylvania flintlock w/o the QLA as a partial trade.

    Colonial .54 touch hole

I am betting you are using Swiss 3F as your main charge. I have had that happen frequently with Swiss, but not Goex. Even though both are 3F, I find the Swiss to be finer.

Permalyn or Tried & True oil

I have used them both and like both. The Tried and True Oil Varnish is basically polymerized linseed oil - or so I have read. I find the Tried and True does maybe darken the stock more so than the Permalyn, which would be consistent with my experiences with boiled linseed oil. I have found...

    New Flintlock Match Rifle Build

It has two functions or actually three. First, it helps cover where a ragged piece of wood got ripped out by an over aggressive wood rasp and I did not want to try to patch it. I don't believe a wood patch could have been successfully installed due to the irregular shape of the piece and with...

    New Flintlock Match Rifle Build

Here is my latest build from scratch. I built it for occassional hunting and for shooting in the flintlock matches. It is a fine piece of walnut wood and the hardware is brass. The rear sight is an adjustable Kensight and the front a standard blade. The 36" barrel is a 50 caliber Green Mountain...

Flintlock flash guards for competitive tournaments

I believe the NMLRA rule for flash guards is totally something different from what you are thinking. It is a shield that would be on a post or something on your right side to keep the shooter on your right from being sprayed by you firing or from being hit by a flint that comes out of the jaw...
