    Cold weather shooting

In my experience, age + moisture as a combination is the enemy, not field temps. At -15, im certain the rifle would work better than the person!

CLOSED wanted goex metal can cap

Since that cap is the duplicate of a whole 99c store mustard/ketchup squeeze bottle, why bother with it? Something different in the composition of a Pyrodex bottle compared to a mustard bottle?

    Bandsaw...will it work?

I appreciate this thread since im looking for a bandsaw too. Good info in here. I only have basic knowledge but that Craftsman, and electronic to boot :( , I wouldnt have wasted the time to go look if it were above $150. In fact, id look at this as paying around $100-150 as a one-way ticket...

    Ridiculous Cap Pricing

On more note on all the shortages. As has happened before, shortages breed innovation and creativity because people only take lack up of supply up to a point before they start thinking outside. Ive been re-reading an Army manual about improvised weapons which is not suitable discussion in this...

    Ridiculous Cap Pricing

On all these various shortages, people forget we are still in covid and planes, trains and automobiles arent going like they used to. The supply chain A to Z is in shambles worldwide. We make rifle slings which are shipped from Malaysia and we've been out of business for a year now because...

    Ridiculous Cap Pricing

Iraqveteran8888 has a matchlock video. Such a ridiculous contraption! Whoever invented the matchlock had nerves of steel. Shooting a matchlock reminds me of that photo many of you may have seen of the guy who invented the bulletproof vest. "Go ahead and shoot at me, lets see if it works!"

    Cleaning a flintlock

You guys think too hard. My revolvers go straight in the dishwasher and that powdered washing stuff gets them sparkling clean. I set the dishwasher control for no heat in the drying cycle because the heat might set detergent stains in the bluing. Then a quick blow with my wifes hair dryer set on...

    Revolver carry safety

All my guns are empty until im ready to shoot them. Thats it. The exception, if its called that, is preloading cylinders and mags which are carried outside the gun until ready to use. The only thing I believe about safeties is releasing a safety on a loaded gun thats already pointed down range...

    Polishing Brass

I should add to my post that I dont prep brass before spraying. I take it from the package, handle with a paper towel and straight to work. Finger marks are very tough to get off and will become part of the metal. Also, another reason to paint before handling is that knurling is very hard or...

    Polishing Brass

I grew up liking polished brass but hating to polish it simply because the shine didnt last long. I fixed this permanently by clear-coating brass things when new and thats it. I used to use Yamaha Spray Case Paint (Clear) until I couldnt find it anymore. It gave a great and tough finish. After...

I have not hunted with a ML but as I know, .50 IS the normal round used and someone can correct me if wrong but whats allowed around the states isnt much smaller.

Thats basically what he did in the video just above.

    Rifle will not fire?

I hope you dont have to go this far to remove a nipple but its a way. Heat is a common process for removing stubborn nuts and bolts.

Neat brass adjustable BP powdah measure - < $5!

That powder measure quickly ran out of stock.

Percussion caps and powders out of stock

There are caps and powder out there but what people are willing to pay is another story. Its not fair to say there is nothing after a persons refusal to agree to the price or quantity. Also, im not buying anything right now but recently came across non-traditional sources like a hardware store...

    Amusing/Ridiculous Muzzleloading Misconceptions...

Actually, sad to say, the best joke of all time is also the one about to defeat shooters, that a .50 ML ball is the same as .50BMG, and like the .50BMG can also fire 3500 rounds a minute. The many misconceptions and lies in that Dem statement has caused them to re-visit cap and ball and ban...

    Rifle will not fire?

Considering the many replies to the OP, i vote for nipple removal before anything else. Replace it with new and take it as a lesson to remove often, clean and lube the threads with breech plug lube. Did I mention OFTEN? I hope so, i meant to say OFTEN so I hope it got into this comment somewhere.
