    Cracked Stock Repair

From what I can see, and I may be wrong, but what I see from the blown-up picture is the one end is rounded, looks like a light reflection giving jagged look

    Barrel Condition

I have seen barrels like pictured worst sitting on the gun rack new from mfg. Bore scopes will show a lot for some one that knows what they are looking at, others it panics, and causes sleepless nights.

    .36 rifle accuracy at distance

A round ball is not the most flight efficient projectile.

Can brass bore guides cause damage?

Anything will wear steel if it is in contact and moving long enough. Take hardened fishing rod eyelets, they wear out just from the line rubbing. Again wood, steel, brass, fiberglass, plastic ram or cleaning rods will not harm your bore "if" used properly!!. If you can not use it properly and...

Can brass bore guides cause damage?

It is how you use the rod that is the problem, not the rod.

Is there a way to postpone cleaning a ml?

Using a gun case in humid/damp atmosphere after shooting and not cleaning, for storage, will guarantee rust

50/50 Dawn dish soap and water patch lube

If we want to do it like the originals did back in the 17 & 1800' s why dont we just use what they used, and how good was it? From what I have read over the years it seems no body knows 100%. We only guess at what they did and what worked. Old time lubes and cleaning will always be a mystery to...

Bar Keeper's Friend for bore polishing

It has Oxalic acid (rust remover), and yes I have tried it and it seemed to do a decent job. just do a good thorough flush with detergent and clean water, and dry and oil when done. Nothing really super special from other products.

    The Revenant.

I have read many articles and books on bears charging, attacks and maulings, one thing they all seem to have in common is each one is different in numerous ways. I do not believe a bear has one set way to do its natural things it does. Hollywood does what it does to make films exciting, but how...

Does anyone even do this anymore?

For me it is a spray of alcohol and a blast of low pressure air ( 50 lbs). For me no fuss no muss, for others it is your choice.

Need Help first Shot Hunting Accurary

I have observed over the years that a lot of shooters of black powder rifles do not take the time for whatever reason, hours, money, or Patience, to really wring out the accuracy of their rifle. Some guns you may get lucky and from day one they just shoot, get an errant fire arm, get ready for...
