    Lets discuss small bore guns

Pedersoli makes a Pennsylvania style rifle in 32 & 36, and the Frontier in both calibers too. For a shorter rifle, the Pedersoli scout (in 32 0r 36) is a nice handling rifle. If you can find and old CVA varmint or squirrel rifle they are light and have shorter barrels.

To Bounce or not to Bounce

I don't bounce. I agree with those that say load consistently and use a steady push on the ram rod to seat the PRB to your loaded gun mark. To get consistent pressure in the field, (not at the range),I put the toe of the butt plate on my big toe and run the ball down applying the necessary...

Making your own ball patches. Info needed.

I use #40 cotton drill cloth from JoAnnes for my patching. It runs .016-.018 in thickness. I wash the fabric two times and hang dry. I put several layers of fabric on a board and use a sharpened hole saw in my drill press to make my patches. 1.25" diameter for .45 caliber, 1.5" diameter for...

    T/C Hawken RB barrel?

Probably came from the custom shop (Fox Ridge).

    CVA squirrel rifle

The CVA squirrel rifle I had (and sold regretfully) had a 1:56" twist rate. It shot round ball extremely well.

    Pocket drill cloth at Joann's

I wash 2 times without soap and dry in dryer with an old sneaker on low heat. The sneaker beats the cloth to make it less stiff.

    Track’s Original Oil Finish

I used it on a stripped down Renegade stock. It appears to be similar to "Tru-Oil". Put a nice finish on the stock that dried quickly. Don't know how durable it is as I sold the rifle.

Who among us are PIPE smokers?

For me it is just the basics. A corn cob pipe and half N half tobacco.

Whats your favorite muzzleloader you own?

It's 13/16 ATF and 45" long. Lots of incised carving, and some unique to bookbinder.

Opinions about Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle

My local gun store zip ties the hammers (cocks) on the muzzleloaders so they cannot be dry fired.

Whats your favorite muzzleloader you own?

I have a S. Bookbinder .45 percussion rifle of the Bedford design that not only looks great, but shoots great too!.

Opinions about Jonathan Browning Mountain Rifle

I have an iron mounted BMR that was originally a .50 caliber that I had Bobby Hoyt re-bore to .58. It is a great shooting gun, but somewhat heavy. I really like the single set trigger for a hunting rifle as it leaves more room within the trigger guard for my fat sausage like fingers...

Oxidized balls, think they will be a problem?

Try spraying the balls with WD-40, and roll them in a towel. Most of the oxidation will come off.

    Tiny priming flasks??

I have seen these at Track of the Wolf.

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

Another suggestion when swabbing small bores, or any bore size for that matter, is to use a jag that is smaller than bore size IE, use a 32 caliber jag in a 36, a 45 jag in a 50 etc.. For the 32, I use a 28 cal jag (7mm). The idea is by using a smaller jag size, the patch slides down the bore...

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

Yes, the flame channel is approximately .275

    Pedersoli owners, speak up

I have a Pedersoli Pennsylvania rifle in .32 percussion, When in the field, and there may be multiple shots, I use a .22 caliber jag with a alcohol soaked patch to clean down into the patent breech to remove the built up fouling. I have never (knock on wood) had a miss-fire to date, and there...

    WANTED RMAC .22

I have a .22 BP percussion rifle that I made from an old Marlin .22 rifle barrel. It shoots 4 grains of 4f Goex with a .223 30 grain air rifle slug into dime sized groups at 25 yards that will penetrate a 3/4" pine board.

    Chestnut?

I have never run across a vintage muzzleloader that was stocked with Chestnut. I believe the wood is too soft for making a stock. I have an old Chestnut drop leaf table, and the wood is very soft and easily dented.
