New copy of The Gunsmith of Grenville County came today

I agree. Great book but I've found that need to definitely read other stuff as well to get a clearer understanding of what the heck he's trying to get at sometimes. I'm glad they reprinted it though. The prices for them were getting pretty stupid...approaching the Sons of a Trackless Forest...

    Pics from Dixons - Saturday

Didn't rain the whole weekend during the day as I recall...

Any particular goals for 2012 fall Hunting season?

I would buy lunch if ya'll let me take pictures of THAT!! Well, ok I might not could afford it but it would be fun anyhow!! I guess I'd finally like to get some more float trips done. Been years since I was able to do any hunting that way.

    Ferguson Rifle on King's Mt.

I have never been but I sure do want to. A couple years ago I was in England on a military exchange program and was fortunate enough to get a private tour of the weapons museum at Warminster (sort of like their Ft. Benning I was told). Anyhow, they had an original Ferguson rifle and the museum...

    Keeping the sinew

I think it's easier to do it before removing the backstrap. Adam

    A good Possibles bag

Guy's, why not just try making one? There are several nice books out there that do a good job of walking you through it. It's not so hard as you might think. It's also less expensive! Adam

    Alafia River Rendezvous

I think the wife and I are going to try to attend this year. Adam

    NC Buck Limit Changed

If I may ask, what don't you like about taking more doe's? I wish Florida would change our rules to allow more does and put a cap on the # of bucks. Adam

    Changing of the Flags (Florida)

If anyone's interested, the Changing of the Flags ceremony is happening this weekend in St. Augustine. This marks the anniversary of the handover of Florida from the Spanish to the British in 1763. There's gonna be a morning (11am) and and afternoon one(2pm). The tavern in the Spanish quarter...

    PBS series on F&I War

I've seen it and it's pretty good. It's not gonna please everybody but I think it's a lot better than some other doc's I've seen on the subject. I plan on adding it to my personal library for my kids to watch when they get a little older and can better absorb it all (My oldest is 2 and the...

    N.Y.S. DEER & SAFTEY REPORT..

Don't worry in twenty years, Florida will be full and ruined so the retirees will have to start looking somewhere else to change to "the way it was back north". I'm gonna have to track down some numbers for Florida's hunting injuries/fatalities to compare. I'm just glad so many of our northern...

    A pilgrims Journey

DANG!!!! I was pretty lucky to order one a few years back then I guess. It's a good read, dry but full of information, but I wouldn't pay $100+ for it. Of course, I won't sell mine either  Adam

Patch after 50 shots with no wiping

Ya'll ever heard of Falkenberry Juice?? It's some good stuff!!!! We've been using it for years. It's sorta hard to find but there some places that still carry it mail order. I regularly shoot 50+ shots with no wiping and it seems that the more you shoot the easier it is to load. Adam

    Late muzzleloader...

Florida also has an early muzzleloader season too in most WMA's. It's usually right after archery...STEAMING HOT but not crowded. The February hunt in NW Florida is great!!! It's usually right close to the rut depending on the weather and again...not crowded. Adam

    trade gun

You're right Mike, the lack of details is frustrating. I'm reading about Dr Andrew Turnbull's ill-fated attempt to start a greek colony in British East Florida right after the F&I war and there are tantalizing references to his purchase of muskets in London with which to arm his immigrants (of...
