    PC/HC ENGLISH SCALPER

Wick I just finished a center seam sheath following your old post. Do you apply some type of sealer to the leather after it is formed and stained?

Very cool. I've been searching the creek ditches for a bent growing tree to do the same thing.

    1075/1080 quench

What is a good quench for 1075/1080 steel? Working on a stock removel blade right now. My knife I made last year was out of 5160 steel and not really knowing what I was doing I just heated it to non magnetic and did the quench in some warm hydrolic fluid. I tempered it using the info on...

    .590 ball mold

Ordered a mold from Mr. Tanner and he said his molds take Lee handles. I've got a Lee mold mounted on the block. Looks like it just has a pin ran through it from one side. Has anyone just drilled another hole from the other side to tap the pin out to change the block?

    .590 ball mold

Looked at Lee, Lyman and Rapine. With a Rapine search all I can find is through Buffalo Bullets and I don't see that size. Found a .592 at NEI tooling but it's like $145 for just the block.

    Russell steel

Nice knife. I was wanting to make something with a little bit of a drop point. What's the blade thickness of the 10"? I've hardened and tempered blades before but never messed with 1095. I remember in an old post Wick talking about it being tricky to work with.

    Russell steel

Yah, that's why I was asking. If it is 1095 I am not going to attempt to reharden it if I get it too hot on the edge. I think I will just get a 1/8" bar of 1075/1080. Wish I could find it locally to save on shipping. Thanks.

Thanks. I was thinking about getting one of their butcher knives and reshaping it.

    how to age steel parts

I like either blueing or browning it and then rubbing it back out with steel wool. Kind of gives it a patina look.

    Best Building Book?

I always borrow a friends copy of Recreating the American Longrifle. It's the only building book I've read though. Very informative. It's pricey though buying one I think they are like $50. might be cheaper ones out there just as good.

    Track of the wolf kit?

Good parts but you might want to ask if all items are in stock. I waited 3 months on a stock from them and then 4 months on a trigger plate which ended up being discontinued and changed to a different style.

    How To Age Metals

Since the subject was brought up, is there a way to dull or give a aged look to german silver? I know it doesn't have any silver at all in it so it doesn't seem to tarnish.
