    Percussion Drum Problem

The drums that Dixie sold for the Tennesse Mountain were all threaded longer than was needed. I put my cleaning rod with jag down the barrel then thread the drum in counted the threads that were still exposed then cut the same number of threads off the end. File the cut end smooth and check it...

    Browning Help.

JD no offence taken I just wanted to clear some things up. The brown on my GPR is more of a chocolate color, putting it in the ATF helps to give it the darker finish (which I like) it isn't the brownish red that the LMF brown produces. I'm not putting LMF down I have also used it I just prefer...

    Browning Help.

JD I'm the guy Bill was talking about, so far the Birchwood Casey Brown on my GPR has held up very well. The transmission fluid was a gallon that has been sitting around for several years that I have used before after browning parts. I just pour it back in the jug after using it. As Bill said...

    Front sight for Lyman GPR

Hey Bill, Got it from Log Cabin Shop p/n 50025. It's a one peice, probably more for a long rifle but it works good on the GPR. I'll bring it Saturday to WSB and let you fondle it  Rusty

    Front sight for Lyman GPR

These are what I put on my GPR after I recently refinished it. They came from Log Cabin Shop the front is a blank silver blade on a brass base I filed it to the shape I wanted and then filed the height when sighting it in.

    Frizzen Hardening

When you say lay the frizzen in the sand so you can see the face, are you putting the pan cover into the sand or laying the face of the frizzen on the sand, and watching the back of the frizzen to turn straw yellow. Can you have a frizzen that is too hard? I have a spare one that doesn't spark...

    TMLRA-Brady TX, State Shoot

Well I didn't make it but a friend of mine went, he said there was about 70 shooters. He did ok but not as good as he should have due to not enough practice before going, he also said the wind was a factor for everybody.

    Filling holes in metal?

If you have access to a MIG or TIG welder or even an oxy/acetylene torch you can fill the hole a little above the surface and file it smooth.
