    GPR Replacement Lock

I have a .54 Great Plains rifle that I built from a kit several years ago. I have installed a RMC liner and use the English flints and have very consistent ignition and accuracy but do not like how how poorly the flint strikes the frizzen about halfway up at best, I have read about the poor...

Thanks for bringing that up, I would want a rear sight, did you order one for yours I did not see it as an option on the TVM basic option description.

    TVM Fowler Pictures Please

I have become pretty much hooked on flintlocks and have been shooting a .54 GPR which is very dependable, but I am ready to move up, although I am primarily a deer hunter I do enjoy small game and as most of my shots at deer are less than 50 yds a fowler seems like the way to go. I like the...

I took my flinter out to the range

Flintlocks are so much fun, I am shooting a .54 GPR and thanks to past advise on this site it is real dependable. I have found myself having another rifle and gear packed up for the range only to last minute put it away and grab the flinter, at this point I might as well accept that I do not...

More ignition trouble with Lyman GPR

The GPR is a good rifle and there is a lot of sound advice here , I installed the RMC liner right after I built it as my first flintlock a CVA type from a Deer Creek kit gave me problems until I drilled out and coned the touch hole. Mine is a .54 I use a main charge of 2F Goex and prime with...

    GPR first range session

I have only been shooting flintlocks for about 2 years but have my .54 GPR, which I built from a kit, pretty much 100% reliable if it does not go off either my flint is beat or I got the bore damp running a cleaning patch. As others have mentioned the RMC liner works great, my main charge is 2F...

    what's your gun's name?

I call my .54 GPR flinter, "Bear Grease" named after Friederich Gerstacker's hound in the book "Wild Sports" I have not named my other rifles but no doubt will when one seems to present itself.

    Lyman Flintlocks

Yes, just remove the old liner and the RMC will thread in, I use Gorrilla Grease on the threads for future removal, it seems that the hex hole acts like the exterior coning shown in the earlier posts which is a definite plus.

    Lyman Flintlocks

Go to rmcsports.com and select the online catalog, the touch hole liners are listed under blackpowder shooting accessories scroll down and you will see the one specific to a Lyman rifle.

    Lyman Flintlocks

I am sure you will be happy with the Great Plains Rifle, I built my .54 Flintlock from the kit several years ago and althougth like you I hope to get something more custom this rifle is very accurate and dependable. I use the 3/4 x 3/4 English flints and the RMC replacement vent liner which I...

    Info on GPR flinter

I am shooting 60 grains in my .54 for target shooting. I like the RCM liner as others have said, also I found the primitive sight that comes with the rifle to give a much better picture than the adjustable buckhorn that is also supplied. My accuracy was pretty decent right from the start but...

First shots with new .54 GPR

As said a 100 shots or so will take care of the problem, try to use a pillow ticking patch instead of the softer linen, I am finding I can now load a .535 ball with a .015 patch easily which I was unable to do in the earlier break in period, they are a very good, accurate rifle.

Show us your flintlock squirrel rifles!

What products did you use to finish the stock with it, really looks excellent I have a new maple stock coming for my GPR and that is the kind of color and finish I hope to achieve. Thanks.

Color for upgraded maple GPR stock

Tiger hunt has a pattern and would not need a stock sent to them, I ordered what is being called exhibition grade and the approximate cost is $165.00 and there are several grades available of maple as well as cherry.
