    The math of bending barrels

The mathamatical formula is based on the distance between the sights in inches and the distance to the target in feet, so if you only bend between those two points you may be able to work out something.(To find the sight correction in thousands of an inch, divide the distance the bullet strike...

    Early T/C Hawken Accuracy

Could be like some groups are measured from center of bullet hole to center of bullet instead of from outside to outside. Oscar/NC

    Original Hawken

I was at the Cody Museum two weeks ago and saw John "Liver Eating" Johnson's Hawkin and it too had the pistol grip and it looked to be in rather good shape. They also had his Bowie knife and pistol. If someone has never been to the museum they need to go because aside from cartridge firearms...

    Traditions 32 Caliber Crockett

I sent it to an old gunsmith friend and asked him to fix it. I never asked him what he did. It shoots so much better now than it did. Oscar/NC

    Traditions 32 Caliber Crockett

My eyes won't let me shoot good groups at longer distances with out a scope but at 25 yards my little Crockett with 25 gr. Pyro "P", .313/.315" ball and pillow tick patch will shoot 1/2". I started with 10 gr. and went up 5 grs. at a time to 35. The groups started at 3" and got smaller till I...

Anyone have these .36 cal. guns and

I have one of the Traditions Crocketts in 32 cal. and it shoots 1/2 inch at 25 yards with 25 grains of Pyro P and a patched .311 inch ball. I also have two T/C Senacas in 36 cal. but have never shot them. Just enjoy looking at them. Oscar/NC

    Twist in Barrel?

I was shooting my White Mountain carbine with 80 gr. Pyro RS and ran out of 370 gr. maxi-balls (which can touch holes at 50 yards) and used a .490 RB w/.018" patch and they shot just as good, but grouped about 6 inches higher than the maxi-balls. :results: Oscar/NC

    Game trail cameras

Thanks to all that responded. I think I will go to WallyWorld and get a cheapo outfit and play with that the rest of the winter and then get serious again in late summer next year and then make my mind up. Thanks again, Oscar/NC

    Game trail cameras

I am considering getting one of the digital trail cameras. Does any one have any suggestions on good ones for the money or warnings on ones to stay away from? Does any one know anything about the Eagleeye cameras that are made out in Oregon. Sort of pricey but use Sony cameras. Any help will...

    Removing dried lube from conicals.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll give them a try in turn and see which works the best. Oscar/NC

    Removing dried lube from conicals.

I tried the alcohol route (91%) and that seemed to work reasonably well on the 4 that I had in the bowl. There are 4 bullets in each plastic tube and until I soaked them in the alcohol I couldn't even get them out of the tube. Thanks, Oscar/NC

    Removing dried lube from conicals.

I bought some (a lot) of T/C maxi ball and maxi hunter bullets. The store almost paid me to take them because the lube had dried out. How would be the best way to get this old lube off short of picking it out of the groves one at the time? I tried boiling some of them in hot water hoping the...

    PSI to LUP conversion.

The only marks under the barrel are the 2110 KG which I assumed (I know about assuming but I did any way)and the mfg. code for 1978 and a few other marks that have no meaning to me what so ever. I didn't think about the proof being in sq. centimeters. I used 2.2 lbs. for a kilo and came up...

    PSI to LUP conversion.

Stamped under the barrel of my Pietta shotgun is 2110 KG. If this is the proof in kilograms that translates to 4642 lbs. Shotgun data is usually stated in "lead units of pressure". Is there a conversion factor to convert LUP to PSI or PSI to LUP? Does anyone know what it might be or know...

    Barrel twist

For what ever reason my WM carbine has a 1:24 twist. Checked it with a tight patch on the ramrod and measured after 1/2 turn. I shoot a 370 gr. maxi ball and 70 gr. of Pyro RS and if I do my part, from a rest, it will touch bullet holes (3 shot group) at 50 yards. If I shoot more than 5 or 6...

    Gave a kid

I did the same thing a couple of years ago for a 14 year old that lived across the road from me. He had been talking about getting a ML for over a year and I had a 50 cal. T/C Hawken that I had acquired and didn't need. I talked to his mom and she said ok. I told her to tell him that a stray...

New person saying, "Hello to the ML Forum".

Hello all. I hope that I will be an asset to the forum. I will try. While I actually shoot more modern firearms than muzzleloaders, I do own a goodly number of the latter, and find descussions about muzzleloaders and their associated items and their time in history interesting. I happen to...
