I just leave mine loaded if going to be back hunting in a few days or even a week or 2. Just remove the cap if percussion.

Renegade in .50 cal was my first. Fairly early 5 digit serial number purchased used around 1986-7.

I can understand the logic of this, and I would not hesitate to try it if need be. But, after such a treatment, the barrel may be cold, but is it clean?

I had a .50 cal TC Renegade that I would put a musket cap nipple on when using substitute powders (Pyrodex and Triple 7). Switched back and forth with the standard #11 nipple for real BP with no ignition issues. Depends on the gun mostly I suppose.

Ahhh yes, the famous head bob, yep, got busted by that move early on in my bow hunting career by a really nice buck on public land. Remembered it well and have since had it pulled on me many times by other deer, it's one of their favorite tactics I think.
