    Cap 'n ball revolver cleaning - how thorough and how often?

    I strip them down and put them in a sink of hot water and scrub with a toothe brush all external parts and use a bore brush for cyclinder and barrel. Rinse with hot water and in the oven to dry.     1851 Navy

    I have 2 1860 colt snubbies, 1 1862 snubby a ASM 1851 colt 5 inch sherriff model and 1858 target model, 2 1858 5 1/2 barrel and the Charcol blue frame shooters model with the gunfighter grips. Almost forgot my 31 cal remmy and 31 cal colt thats all of them I think. I love them guns.

    The chambers can and are bigger. I had the same problem with my 1860 cyclinder. Its from the factory bad machining job on the cyclinder. All you can do is try 457 balls or get new cyclinder.

    36 revolver powder charge questions

    the 1858 remmy will hold more powder than the two colts. If needed it would hold 30 grs of 3f powder and I use 20-25 grs in my 1862 and my 1851 36 cal's.

    I like the 36 cal snubby 1862 better fit in my hand and i can put it in my pocket if need be. The 44 1860 has more punch and flame, I shoot 30 to 35 gr. of 3f T777. I think it will get the job done at close range.

    I got to of the 3'inch barrel 1860's and the 3' inch 1862 model. I've shoot one of the 1860's all the time with 30 gr. of T777 and home made Lee 200 gr. bullets. It does kick a bit, but its fun to see that big flame.The 1862 snubby makes a good walking around piece for fishing an such.

    Thsi all sounds like the ball is moving due to such a big load to me. I would try a bigger ball if you're going to use that load.
