    Curious about builders/sellors . . .

Rich - Thank you for your lengthy reply. I don't think I could have asked for a better reply from anyone. It would seem that your experience is similar to what I hope to experience. I like the Golden Age pieces, among a few others, and plan to stick to what I like. I am lucky enough to have...

    Curious about builders/sellors . . .

I'm curious about those of you that build your own to sell. I am considering buiding some rifles and pistols but I do not know what the market is like. I've looked through the publications, visited Dixon's, been there for their Gun Show, and have started to buy plans and books on rifles and...

    Staining a pistol kit

Firedanse- Trying to match walnut to maple is tough. If the maple was stained a dark color than it is not so tough, but if it is meduium to light you have your work cut out. Some people will bleach a dark wood to get rid of the dark color, then you are starting at ta point where the...

    New Here

I am just rekindling my interest in black powder. I had been a shooter for a few years in my 20's and owned a Sharps .56 paper cartridge breechloader. I got away from shooting for a bit and am now looking to build some Pennsylvania rifles, probably to sell. I am lucky enough to have trained...

    purple heart wood............

FYI - Musketman. I used to work in a shop that sold purpleheart and the word was it does not maintain that color indefinitely. It will change to a brown over time...or so I was told.

    Cherry wood.....

Blahman. I am experienced as a furnituremaker, specifically 18th century. I am trying to get into rifle building. I would like to offer that there are tons of stains and dyes out there. The colors achieveable with these colors, available through any decent woodworking catalog, are endless...
