    Stuck Ball

I put the post in the "Flintlock Rifles" because the rifle is a "Flintlock". Being new to Flintlocks I called the "flash hole insert" a nipple, my mistake, sorry for the confusion. Frank

    Stuck Ball

Thank you everyone for your ideas. I had poured lub down the barrel yesterday and the ball must have had a hole through it from the ball screw puller because lube was coming out the nipple. I took a steel rod and used a rubber hammer to run the ball down to the lub soaked powder. then took the...

CVA .45 cal Hornday .440 ball with lubed patch stuck about 12 inches down barel. Poured lub down barrel and used rod with the screw ball remover tip. After trying to pull ball out by hand and ball not moving I put vice grips on the rod and started tapping on the vice grips. After 5 or 6 taps...

    Sights - Peep

How early were peep sights used on the tang or barrel? In the mid 1800's I am sure a lot of those old boys had bad eyes and no glasses and trouble seeing the open sights. Frank

    Nipple Wrench

I have 4 diffrent nipple wrenches in my box and none of them will fit on a 1860 Army 44 or a 1851 Navy 44. Who has the best that will work on thes guns? I see a lot of them for sale on the internet but do not know what ones will work for the Colts. Frank

    Flash pan powder holder

Some where I have seen a brass powder holder for the flash pan. I believe you press the tip in the flash pan and it puts the proper amount of powder in the pan. One of brass or a real small powder horn with the right tip on it would be great if I could find one. Frank

    Kentucky Pistol

I have aquired a Kentucky Percussion Pistol in 45 cal. This pistol does not have a barrel tenon wedge to remove the barrel for cleaning. You have to remove two small screws from the nose cap and remove the nose cap to get the barrel off. This is a feature I do not care for but is the way they...

    Sights

Did any of the original old rifles have peep sights and globe front sights? Eyes are getting old, having trouble with standard type sights. Wearing tri focus glasses is a pain and not much help. I have tang peep sights and globe front sights on Sharps, Rolling Block, Trapdoor, High Wall and...

    Nose Cap - Kentucky Pistol

My grandson was given a old CVA Kentucky Pistol kit. The kit is missing the sights and the nose cap. I have sights for the pistol in my shop but can not locate a nose cap. Anyone have a nose cap they want to get rid of or know who may have one? Frank
