    Those who have black bear hunted?

    Have taken two black bears with my 50 cal flinter round ball through the lungs. broke far leg on one. One was 50 yards the other close to 80yards that ball was under the skin on the far side. Load was 90 grains FFG for both Patched round ball.

    what shot you gents use for waterfowl

    finished my bess carbine, have been hunting rabbits and shooting at a few grouse i want to try using it on geese and ducks. modern 12 gauge now. All most all of my hunting is with decoys. I use heavy shot now.

    Bessy is finished, was at Dixion's yesterday for a new spring for my flint lock and picked up my wads. Made up two dozen shot cups for turkey loads. will give her a god sunday

    Dumb Brown Bess question

    :wink: Just finished a Bess carbine kit up. That's number two . the first one works good as a shotgun. My brother's gun He hunts ducks and pheasants with it. Uses 80 gr. ffg and same measure of 5 shot for birds That's why I took this one as payment for a job. I will also hunt turkeys with mine .

    How it started

    Started in 79 with an old 45 cal long rifle bore was shot , allmost no rifling. shot ok been at it ever since. just finishing a bess carbine to add to the collection. still shoot the old 45 flinter. will be going for a walk tomorrow morning. looking for some deer sausage!!

    I still hunt with wind in my face and still hunt. bearly moving. had the same talk with my son's friend. before last bear season. seems he was wrong. Bear 0 --50 cal ball at 30 yards 1 .
