    Lmf barrel browning help please

Hey there folks, I'm working on my first barrel browning and using the LMF solution. I first started with the barrel set up in the garage. I have a ventless gas heater that puts out a lot of humidity. I had the surface of the metal how I wanted and used acetone to degrease. After two coats I...

Anybody want to share a photo of their case?

Thanks guys. I've seen some very cool vintage leather and canvas "cases". I imagine they aren't the best for protection but they look great. Some of the leather cases have great markings on them. Figure I'll take my time and find the right one for me, buts its nice to see what folks who've been...

    Cva hawken finish change questions

I got around to stripping the old finish today. After two applications of stripping I still had a good deal of old finish present and removing the mess left over was a chore, so I moved on to sanding and have it about 90% done. Not sure if the stripper I'm using is junk or not but it just...

    Cva hawken finish change questions

Not sure how accurate it is, but I'm not going to do anything with the brass, letting it age if it sticks out too much from the darker wood. I saw one where they had blackened it, it looked great, but the brass is one of the things that first caught my attention.

    Cva hawken finish change questions

Think it was a good mistake actually, gives me the idea to do some testing in areas that'll be covered up :hmm: Jim at JKlongrifles gave me some good ideas with starting with his red then going over it with the dark brown, I may buy some of each finish he has to get the color I want. Also...

    Cva hawken finish change questions

Hey there folks, Got my first bear rifle and I'm thinking about making a couple of changes. It has a high gloss finish that I'm not too excited about and would like to go towards a satin/flat finish. I'd also like to darken it up a bit, it's a light orange color now and I'd like to go darker...

Greetings and some tc Hawken barrel advise

Thanks all again, memorizing quotes was not expected but I'd be a fool not to have that one in the ol memorie banks. It is a hook barrel that it needs.

Greetings and some tc Hawken barrel advise

Here are a few more photos. Sorry if this is dragging out a bit. Notice the measurements, it looks like at the lock plate and end cap the measurement is 15/16" but at the wood part of the stock it looks to be 7/8" :hmm:

Greetings and some tc Hawken barrel advise

Hello all, thanks again for all your help. I met up with my dad and brother yesterday for a little holiday gift exchange and my dad brought the his Hawken and the stock he's giving me. We shot his a few times so that I'd have an idea of what I have to look forward too. Some of the best fun I've...
