    Innovations saf-t unloader

One brand uses 12gram cartridges, same as most paintball stuff. Another brand uses 16gram cartridges (MINE unfortunately!) The only place I can find those cartridges is Cabelas. If you have one near, check. Otherwise, try Cabelas online or call customer service.

    Paper Targets

Thanks for the links. I'm looking for more, novelty-type - targets people have made for more creative/fun shoots. I've got a bunch, just wanted to see what others have used. May have to put some of mine up somewhere for sharing.

    Benjamin and Medwin cast ironware

I had done some checking on B&M a couple years ago. Modern stuff. Not the quality of OLD Griswold or Wagner, but nothing modern is. Here's some of the detail (what I could still find from my old files): Benjamin & Medwin® is a registered trademark used for Cookware, Namely, Non-Electric...

    Attendence at M/L Events

I belong to one of only three clubs in South Dakota, but am a 2nd generation member. My father was one of the founders. We, too have this issue. Most members are over 50. Very few are under 40. We have our own 5-acre range, complete with cabin, target and primitive ranges, bow and hawk...

    Saf-T Unloader

The Saf-T Unloader works great. However, mine is only about 2 years old and requires 16 gram cartridges (very hard to find around here, I have to order online or go to Cabela's only). Another club member has had one for over 10 years. His uses 12 gram cartridges (same as those...

    Grand Junction Black Powder clubs

There are four clubs in Colorado with websites. You can find their links at www.dacotahterritorymuzzleloaders.com/links. Beyond that, I can't find any reference in NMLRA or NRA info.

    Sight Suggestions For GPR

I've been shooting a new GPR since last August. Two things to note: 1 - I used the adjustable rear sight that came with the rifle and tried several front sights (including machining down the original blade sight) and found the white bead sight to work the best for me. 2 - It DEFINITELY takes...

    CVA Mountaineer?

A friend of mine has a 50cal shorter length CVA. I believe it says "Mountaineer" on the barrel. Does anyone know anything about this CVA model? What is the used 50cal model worth?

My first shots with my first ML

Just curious, I shoot 38-40grains of Schuetzen FFF in my 50cal for range shooting. I started with 50grains, but found the best grouping at the above. That seems light when I talk to other shooters, but I've put successive 5-ball patterns in a tight enough group at 25 that you can't determine...

thinking of a T/C renegade(used) , what is good price?

Not the greatest I've seen, just recently saw two used, one for $100.00 the other for $125.00. In a retail store 180 miles from here, I can buy new percussion for $224.00, or a new percussion GPR for under $400.00. Come to think if it, those may have been T/C Hawkens, not Renegades. Now I'm...

    Lyman Warranty at Dixon's Muzzleloading

Someone encourage them to improve their website! In this state, there is NO good BP suppler. Track of the Wolf is 6 hours from here, with limited hours for walk-ins. I'm always looking for a good website to buy from because of this.

Do those spinning Jags really work?

I purchased a spinjag...in November I think. Can't say that it alone increased my accuracy (been shooting a new rifle since August), but I have done well in the last three monthly club shoots. Technically, the jag works as claimed. Based on principle, since it works as claimed, and ball...

west coater heading east this summer

Check out the Powder Horn News and/or Smoke & Fire news also. They list events by month, so you could see what is on your road from west to east. There are a number of small(er) events on the road that may be worth a 1 or 2 day stop, or even that 2 hour break from driving!

    Unique barrel found

Our club got the following note through our website. Can anyone help with this? "I am the owner of a very unique muzzle loader. The barrel only was recovered near Marthasville, Mo., about one mile from the former Daniel Boone Farm half covered with dirt in an open field. It is hexagonal on...

    Candlelight for reading

You could use a lamp-oil hurricane. Whale oil and other types were period-correct, and the lamp-oil "globe" has been around forever. Granted, it wasn't lamp oil they used, but in the interest of safety... I use them next to my bed when I need to take my contacts out at night (which is always...

    folding saw

Can't remember the name of the saw off-hand, but we have two that we use in the BWCA - Northern Minnesota. They are like the Sven Saw, only the only metal is the blade. All else is wood and they work excellent. If I remember correctly, we picked them up at Piragis Northwoods, an outfitter in...
