    Question about enfield barrel

It's a Euroarms and it shoots okay. Also, I bought it used and I am not sure what the person who had it last did with it. I'd feel more comfterable with a new one. It's really weird because if I drop a bore light down the barrel, the bore looks quite shiny; however, if i just look at the end of...

    Question about enfield barrel

I have an 1853 enfield 3 band rifle and I want to buy a new barrel for it because the one I currently have has pitting in it. I have looked on the internet but cannot find anyone who has one. If anyone knows, your help is greatly appreciated. I know I found a website in the past that sells this...

How many leave sidelock half cocked

All you have to do is leave the hammer full cocked without the cap on. Then, when you are ready to fire, just put the cap on.

    Enfiled mold question

Okay, I'm looking for a mold for my 3 band Enfield and what I want to know is what is the best diameter to get. I don't know if I should get a .577, .58 or a .575 mold. Which one is best in your opinions??

Finally got a 3 band Enfield

Okay, I know what a jag is but I am not sure how to exactly use it. For ordinary cleaning (or in this case with the steel wool), do I just wrap the patch (or steel wool) around the jag and use it just like I would any ordinary cleaning rod?? Please excuse the noobie question.

Finally got a 3 band Enfield

Ok, so I went to the gunshow today and spotted a 3-band Enfield made by Euroarms. I decided to buy it for about $425. The only thing is that it is used and the Ramrod has rust on it, and the bore has some rust on it and the barrel has some surface rust on the outside. Other than that it looks...

    Remington Caps

I never heard of people using paper cartidges in C&B revolvers. Do you have to put any type of chemical on the paper so it burns easier? And is it a special type of paper?

Questions about Civil War reproduction rifles

I'm thinking of getting either a 3-band armisport or Euroarms. Which one do you guys think is better?

Questions about Civil War reproduction rifles

I just remembered one more question, do you guys prefer to use pyrodex or blackpowder in these rifles. Is there one that is better than the other or is it just based on personal preferences??

Questions about Civil War reproduction rifles

Would crisco be a good choice to lube the minne ball with? Also, is it fairly easy to push the minne ball into the barrel with your thumb or is a short starter required?

Questions about Civil War reproduction rifles

I am thinking about getting a Civil war repro. Enfield or Zuave rifle and have several questions about them. 1). I heard that the trigger pull on these rifle is very hard. Is it easy to fix it or does it require a gunsmith. 2). About what is the average load that people use with these rifles...

Question about filler in C&B revolver

Thanks for all of the replies. I had a chance to go out to the range yesterday and used cornmeal as a filler and really liked it. The only thing that I did not like about it was that it was really reluctant to pour out of the flask. I will just use He-bear's advice about putting in the cornmeal...

    I have a dilemma

So there is no way to manually adjust the trigger pull?? I have a .50 Kentucky pistol and I can increase or decrease the trigger pull. How much would it be to get some custom work done on it then??

    I have a dilemma

Okay, I have been having a reallly big itch to buy a Civil war era .58 rifle. The minne ball has always fascinated me at it's stopping power and how purdy it looks. :) I have narrowed down my choices to either a 3-band Enfield or an 1863 Zouave. So, what are ya'lls opinions about both of them...

Question about filler in C&B revolver

I noticed that if I use 20 grains of powder in my 1858 Remmington .44 revolver, there might be a space between the powder and the ball. This is a brass framed revolver and I read that I should not fire high powered loads out of it. So my question is, what would be the best filler to put...

    Best lubrication to use

Thanks for all of the replies. I think that I will use olive oil as a lube for my muzzleloaders as it seems to work well for many people. BTW. What do you guys use for greasing your round balls. I tend to just roll it in butter and it seems to work well for me. Anyone else use any type of...

    Best lubrication to use

What brand of lubricating oil is the best one for muzzleloaders. I use Hoppes lubricating oil for all of my guns and was wondering if I should be using a different/better type for my muzzleloader. Thanks

    Colt Revolving Rifle

I read somewhere that you are never supposed to put your non-shooting hand on the barrel because of the risk of a chain fire from these types of guns. I don't see how these could be very accurate if you are shooting them with one hand.
