    Talk about a rare one.

He just wants a few extra as a display piece to go with the rifle, so he says. But he does want it in working condition anyhow. I'll just make the spring for the hammer as well.

    Talk about a rare one.

It's my understanding that this was the in-between to modern day breech loaders, hence the weird brass cartridge that it uses.

    Talk about a rare one.

A guy brought in his 54 Burnside that he got at a pawnshop for $200. Needs a new hammer spring and he wants to know if I could make him 5 more rounds. I found the brass at Buffalo Arms and I'll lathe turn the bullets because they seem to be a bastard size. Pretty cool rifle.

Rehardening frizzens - one size fits all? Musings for metallurgy masterminds....

Anybody that's a tightwad or can't find kasenit, pulverized charcoal works just as well. It's pure carbon. I've case hardened with it many times.

    Scammers.............

That doesn't change the fact that the site makes money from advertisers AND constantly sends messages asking for membership even after I nicely asked for them to stop asking.

    Scammers.............

Then why do I have to fight constant pop up ads?

    Scammers.............

Did the caller have an Indian accent? Because that's the first sign that it's fake.

    Scammers.............

Yeah I'm getting real tired of being begged to upgrade to a membership. I've never paid to be on a forum in my life. I don't plan to start now.

    How i make my caps

No, at the prices that filament are at its not really worth it to make my own.

    How i make my caps

I know I've asked this before but I've sold a ton of these and nobody leaves a review. I have 3 reviews and one person left a bad one and didn't say what the problem was. That one bad review really lowers my rating. If you all have purchased from me, please leave a review because it really helps...

    How i make my caps

It won't detonate just by pressing on it. It needs a sharp blow for that to happen. And it dries into a hard and solid puck.

    How i make my caps

A little bit. I still mix the compound wetted with rubbing alcohol to get a thorough mix but then I let it dry. And there's no adding the duco into the mix. Just put a drop of the duco into the cap and then dump the dry powder on top of it and tamp it down, then let dry. It'll harden and look...

    How i make my caps

You can buy some of the larger syringes that have the needle that unscrews from the body of the syringe, pull the plunger out and fill them up from the back with your wetted priming compound and then reinsert the plunger while pointing the needle upward. If it's a large enough gauge needle, you...

I also just had a realization. My scooper is calibrated for use of the compound without the binder or crushed glass.

    DIY caps

Wet it with rubbing alcohol until it's just pasty and mix the hell out of it. It becomes inert when wetted so you can be quite aggressive mixing it (by hand, no tools.) You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes when it's thoroughly mixed, especially when wet. And it'll evaporate quite...

    DIY caps

A few things here. If you don't weigh the chemicals down to a pretty fine unit of measurement, you can get reliability issues with the ratio of the compound. Also, if you're having the cap protruding enough to cause cylinder binding then you likely are using too much compound in the cap itself...
