    free walker worth it?

hell yeah it is. just traded a few thompson mags for a navy arms walker colt. i knew they were a larger pistol, but holy cow is it huge. 50 grns of 3f sounds like it should get something done. came with a holster, i'm thinking about open carrying it around town.

    ballistics of 8" .44 cal

thanks. that's what i was looking for. i had shot some of those 25 yd shots from rest, and actually sighted in off a rest. the first six will hold a pretty nice group, after that it starts to open up.

    ballistics of 8" .44 cal

short story: picked a '58 new model army by pietta up. thought i'd do some shooting @25 yrds. was hitting low....without thinking about, i started filing the front sight till it was hitting where i wanted. powder load is something like 24grns of 3f. groups great at that range. but did i hose...

    BP Revolvers

on one hand the .44 cal cap and balls are a blast, but i also have a ruger vaquero in .45 colt. there are b/p loads for that as well. problem with the cartridge guns, is you can burn a bunch of powder pretty quick. i gotta say the C&B's are a real good time. the best part of them, they are'nt...

    baking soda solution

use tap water, as hot as it will come. then give it as much soda as it will take. i had 'sludge' in the bottoom of my cup. i used a cheap 1 3/4" paint brush, then a rag and ended up dumping it on, even rubbed some of the paste on there.....anything goes...just get it on.

    Navy Arms Mikoru

    not sure, but i'm thinking it's a '41 mississippi.

    Navy Arms Mikoru

i'am a welder/pipefighter. teh band is brass. missing about .375'' of stuff. we don't have any brass at the shop. could braze it, but thought that just finding a replacement part would be easier....maybe not.

    Navy Arms Mikoru

is there a source for replacement parts for them? have a line on one, that has a broken band on.

    Patch thickness and Pressure

which is why you should recover fired patches to see what they have to say, while building loads. i've made a habit of checking a few everytime it goes out.

    Patch thickness and Pressure

3f ''burns'' ~10% hotter than 2f. so your 70 grn load of 3f was a hotter load. the tighter ball&patch combo will help in getting a tighter group(my target load is a .495 ball wrapped in an .018 patch). i assume the tighter combo would tech raise pressures, but nothing to write home about.

    4F Black Powder

dixon's is a BP only shop. around exit 40 on I78.
  17. B

    FFg or FFFg

somewhere i saw you can 3f up to .50, because i have some. so far i'm not overly impressed with it, though i did change all kinds of things on the gun since teh last i was in to it. next it goes out, it's going with 2f.

    4F Black Powder
