    Events in Florida?

Any one know of any up coming events in the Central Florida area? I used to go to the Pow Wows in Connecticut years ago, but have not been to one since I returned to Florida. I would like to get my grandson into BP and think he would get a kick out the whole thing. Thanks. Doug

Hunter brings loaded rifle to the Range!

In Florida, I can carry my MLs loaded and capped. Can carry any C/F rifle or shotgun loaded, in a case or not. Can carry my HG loaded as long as it is a holster. I lived in California and Connecticut and left both because of their gun laws. Guess I'm glad not to have stopped in NJ. :winking...

    Deck sealent?

I myself tend to stay away from BLO. It is treated with metallic dryers and is toxic. Also has quite a bit of odor. Instead I use RAW linseed oil. If you can't find it in the hardware store, go to the local health food store were it is sold as FLAX SEED oil. I use it on all my stocks. Never had...

    On punk fire starting

I have taken punk wood and mushrooms and put them in my charing can I use to make charred cloth. They both caught sparks and started my tinder just as good as charred cloth. Not sure if thats how you should use it. Honestly can't remember were I learned to do it that way, but for me it worked...

    Brass Barrel maker?

Some friends of our lived in Deston for a while. There is some pretty country in that area. We found some land about half way between Ocala and Gainesville, out in the woods and love it. I have game management area on three sides of me. The critters can't see the property line so I get to hunt...

    Brass Barrel maker?

The brass just looks really good. It was a swamped barrel and just struck a chord, what can I say? Found a number for Mr. Rahl and spoke with him last night. He can do a brass barrel, but the cost is $100 more than steel. He can do me a custom barrel in steel for about what I can find off the...

    Bluing and Stock Finishing

I shoot a 45 T/C Hawkin that I completely reworked myself. I did not like the factory black 'bluing' so it was gone real quick. I found a gent who did saw sharpening and had a glass bead blaster. The barrel has a real nice soft finish to it. I rust browned it using common salt and Ivory soap...

    Brass Barrel maker?

Now that I see the name Getz, that name does seems to ring a bell. I have been thinking of an under hammer for my grandson, and looking at the prices I may just try to build one. I do lost wax casting so the receiver wound not be that hard to produce. The barrel would be the hardest part for...

    Brass Barrel maker?

Greeting all. New member here, Doug out of Ocala, Florida. Years ago I lived in Conn. and used to go to the Pow Wows along the Conn. River. One year there was a vender that had a swamped, brass BP barrel. I have looked all over the net and can find no one listing these things. Anyone have...
