    Midsouth GPR's

If anybody is thinking of ordering a GPR kit from Midsouth, they have them back in stock. I had ordered one back on May 30th and they just received their shipment yesterday. So get ready for a buncha questions when I get started building this!

    New to flintlock...

The response I've gotten is that they are back ordered. I've got a Lyman Deerstalker in percussion an it's worked well, I'm just not sure about flint. I've never ever shot a flintlock before.

    New to flintlock...

I'm in the same (or similar situation). I've shot a percussion gun for over 10 years and just recently decided to order a "rock lock Lyman .54 cal GPR" via Mid-South Shooters supply. The ship date (hopefully!), is July 5th. Is this considered a "cheepo" flintlock and should I forget it?

    Buying a Flintlock

I'm with grandpa--buy it now-that's not a bad price. TC's are good guns and I doubt you'll find one as cheap.

    Value of a custom flintlock

Well, I can't see the pictures either, but as you said, you can't replace it for what you paid for it, so I'd either shoot it and be happy or park it in a gun safe and hope it goes up in value.

    considering a Flintlock

I'm kinda in the same boat, so to speak. I've been hunting with a percussion rifle for about 17 years and decided to "go flint" about two years ago. I got a Jim Chamber's kit (that I haven't built yet!) and just ordered a GPR flnt kit (that I haven't gotten yet!). I figured I'd put the GPR...

Question about the wrist on a GPR

Well, if you ever get DFW way, shoot me an email and I'll buy you supper! I started to say I know some good Mexican food places, but I guess I'll defer, seeing as to your location! :haha:

Question about the wrist on a GPR

Thanks for all the answers--of course you realize that I'll probably have a lot more to come! Plink, where are you in Texas? I live in Richardson.

Question about the wrist on a GPR

I have ordered a GPR kit from MidSouth (hadn't gotten it yet) and from some of the threads I've read, my impression is that you need to take a lot of material off the stock to smooth up the lines, but I hadn't run across anybody talking about how much they took off the wrist area. Anybody with...

    Baker Rifle & leather patch

I remember reading in a book quite some time ago about the early pioneers in the Southwest using antelope skins for patches. For some reason, I think it was Charles Goodnight that said that, but I can't be sure.
