Look not every converter lines perfect with the bore. Some are a degree or so off.
The five shots line better that six shots. Try a semi-wadcutter style load and see.
And as someone advised tone down the load a bit.

I use either kroil or atf and acetone mix. Wet a patch dripping and run it through the bore. Wait of couple minutes then run a bronze bore brush back and forth 15 to 20 times followed by a clean dry patch. Check results. repeat. The atf/acetone mix or kroil will get under the lead and help lift it for the brush to pull it out. Sometimes you may have to allow the fluid to soak a couple of hours just keep it wet. I just finished a volunteer repo that had leaded badly clear to the muzzle.

I like and use the 50/50 mix of acetone and automatic transmission fluid. Also Kroil to break rust free. I also use evaporust to get under rust and break it free. All will get under lead, "But" all will also cause the "Blue or Brown" finish on guns to spot, fade etc. When soaking rusty parts the finish usually comes off too.

Ho Boy Good thread but the wrong forum. You really should slide this over to the Cast Boolets Forum.

Thanks

There are LOTS of folks here that cast - and not just round ball.
A good number of hunters on this site use conicals in black powder sidelocks.
@Howie1968 is one of them. He has slain MANY MANY hogs with conicals.

Yes sir, You are correct. I'm one of those folks. I cast round balls, conical's, cartridge bullets for un- mentionable's here on the list.

I'm politely trying to tell the OP that I believe his thread is going to be removed by the administrators.

Maybe not, If so I stand corrected

Thanks

It is drifting some into the unmentionables, but the main theme is lead projectiles which is VERY applicable to the caplock revolver shooters. The same exact bullet shown can be used in a caplock or cartridge and the leading issue is identical for both. The projectile and lead issue is universal to both worlds. I hope that Zonie sees it this way too, there is a LOT of great information from some very experienced black powder enthusiasts here.

After re-reading the entire thread, I realize Mule333 is talking about a cartridge conversion cylinder on a Remington New Model pistol and he is talking about cartridges.

While talking about making and shooting solid lead bullets in a cap & ball pistol or single shot muzzleloading pistols and rifles is permitted on the forum, discussing self contained cartridge guns is not.

Because there are some useful posts about dealing with leading in a guns bore, I'm going to leave this thread but close it for further discussion.
