i have a 58 caliber 1862 richmond reproduction that i take out at times. it is a pain to find the minie balls in this area. can you shoot a patched ball in this with any accuracy. if so what size ball and patch do you suggest. also what powder charge, i have been using pyrodex with the minie balls. also would you use a dry or oiled patch if i can shoot a patch and ball from this. thanks,t.s.

Yes, you can shoot PRB in a rifle musket. Try .570 ball and .010 to .015 lubed patch. Start with the same charge that you use with minie balls, 60 grns. I get best results using lubed over powder wads.
Now go make smoke and report your results. :)

Yes, I have a repo Zouave and with 65 grains of 3FG,.570 ball, and .015 patch it shoots cloverleaf groups. I love shooting it with PRB.
