That is a great shot with a revolver, especially when you are jacked up with a deer standing under you. I have been shooting my
Ruger Old Army with some conicals I got from a guy online. They are 245 grain, 3 grease grooves and each groove is smaller so
it loads easily in the cylinder. I shoot 30 grains of 777 or 3F black powder. I can't wait to use my ROA this modern gun season.
I hunt along a creek in a pop up blind and always have deer walking around me within 10-15 yards.
Again, congratulations on the deer.
Is that a large pan like you would put under vehicles for oil leaks. Whatever it is, that I a good idea. I need to find me one.
That will keep me out of the kitchen cutting up my deer.

Well done. :thumb:

I confess the coloring of the wood adjacent to your shoe, and the angle of the photograph, made for me an optical illusion...so it doesn't look like you're standing high above the buck...it looked for a moment like the buck was the size of guinea pig...... I was like "whaaaat?"...then I realized what the perspective was.....nice buck and nice illusion.

Great job! Here in Rackensack (that's Arkansas for people north of Blue Eye) it is legal to use a ML handgun if the barrel is 9"or longer. This precludes most factory BP revolvers except the Walker. Also it has to be .54 or larger for round ball, or conical in .45 to .54. So it's weird. I am working on building a long barreled pistol in .50 cal. percussion just for deer creatures. It has an 18" barrel cut down from a TC Hawken with factory sights and a Pecatonica Kentucky pistol curly maple precarve, modified Large Siler percussion, and a piece of old under rib off something in the junk pile. Hope to have it together for an after Christmas hunt. It looks like a bounty hunter's pistol on steroids, LOL. Keep on punchin' deer with pistolas, and good luck.

Congrats on the deer! But,Yikes that tree stand scares me!
The 2x4s you see have no real reason to stick out that far. If you look closely you can see the area near my foot has a large 12”+ diameter limb. There is another slightly larger limb that meets the trunk forming a near perfect 90.The 2xs are actually in pretty decent shape where they are providing structure. And as always I’m tethered in.
