I was thinking about going to a WMA in the morning. Low 40s upper 30s, but momma wants take a ride to a flea market about 2 hrs north of here. It's a nice ride through state Forrest and the Gulf Hammock. Not much traffic.
I'll try some late afternoon huntingbuntil dark. The squirrels have been active up to dark. They're being very sneaky and quick when moving. We'll see how it goes.
Hope those than can get out tomorrow and hunt are able too do so. Successful hunts and or a great day in the woods.

Best to all.

I'd do the same if'n I was upper there.
I do miss the 4 seasons and some winter but I don't miss the length of winter. We might have a few days of cold or even a couple weeks but then it will was up. I feel I've been here to long to go through that.

Thought I would share this with you all.

Just finished my prototype tree seat. It’s going to work on any size tree, as long as the rope is long enough. With the gripper teeth from one of my old climber stands, it allows the seat to work on any tree without having to cut out a large radius in the aft of the seat.

The folding, padded seat cushion stows nice and neat and is easier on the back when on stand. Beats the heck out of just the tree.

The seat is easily packed around using one side of the rope. I have given consideration of installing some thin, light weight shoulder straps from an old climber.

After test driving this thing on several different trees, I have come to the conclusion that it would be better if the wood seat is about 4” longer, making it deeper front to back.

So, I’ll probably redo the wood part. Easily done. As is now, with the shooting sticks attached, I would reckon it weighs about 5 pounds.

Wow, that's fancy schmancy right there 👏.

I use a similar rig mostly for elk hunting. If I'm going to set up to call or wait for a while. I like to just sit at the base of a tree but unless the elk or deer is a keystone cops or three stooges fan they will never stick around while I get to my feet. I'll try to post a few pictures later (of the seat, not me getting up).

That looks like a nylon rope. If so you might find it too stretchy. I used it at first but switched to poly rope after my first use.

How are you going to carry it Ed?
Put the rope over one shoulder. It’s very adjustable. As I have said, I’m considering installing the shoulder straps off of another old climber I have. They are only about one inch wide. The weight difference would be negligible but the comfort factor while packing would be enhanced.

I might do that later on. The only poly rope I could find was bright yellow. That dog don’t hunt!

This rope is 5/16”.

I just got in from going down in my woods behind the house and checking my trail cam. I’m trying to get some of those corn stealing racoons to come back. I’m wanting to tan some of the pelts.

I took Mr. C with me. Sure enough, as I eased down there I spotted a squirrel up on a limb. He had a dumb attack and set tight.

One is better than nothing I reckon.

I used 3/8 on mine. I found some sorta multi color rope at HD. They other thing i learned is to not loop it too far up the tree. After having mine slip a few times I found that it worked better lower.

WISH you would send me a diagram of that seat, would love to make one. That way i dont sit on the ground, hard on back after four back operations.Hard to get up. Good luck hunting Bud.
