I had a sling on my T/C Cherokee I had. I really liked having that.

According to the weather forecast, another week of cold, cloudy and wind here for the most part. Tomorrow is supposed to be severe clear, low winds but in the teens in the morning and not over 30* all day. Its the only halfway decent day of the week. Not sure if I'm ready to go out just yet, still a bit one the weak side, but we shall see.

Due to my unfortunate situation, as well as some other factors, it appears as if I might have conceded and defected. Wife ordered me one of those.........cough, cough...............Oh my, how it hurts to type this..............cough, cough........Cheater Sticks. If I want to get back out there and squirrel hunt, now that I have lost most all of my squirrel woods, I'm going to have to take it easy for a while. So no marching up and down steep grades.

Oh Lawdy, what's the world coming to. Everything is so whacked out of proportion. The irony of defeat. I shall never be the same. Its going to require some mighty strong willpower to get over this one.
you hang in there bud!!!! I know there have been a lot of prayers being sent for you and your family. you got this 👍 💪 🙌

Say it ain’t so!!! What have you become??? lol……me😂View attachment 365681
that's a good 👍 pic. danggg that's a long barrel. I like that. and your chair.ive never seen one like that.it looks like it has a strap to go around the tree. BET it's stable like that. thanks for posting

Couldn’t stand being in this house any longer. I’m not ready to go to the woods just yet, so I thought I’d try my luck easing around in the thicket behind my house. And I’ll be darned.

It’s cold out this morning so after I got Mr. Rabbit I decided that was good nuff for the day. Came back to the house, cleaned up Mr. C, having a cup of coffee to warm up, then out to clean da bunny.

Mr. C is loaded and ready again. Some snow tonight but it’s supposed to be clear all day tomorrow and very cold. I need to go on a recovery mission tomorrow to pick up a trail cam I left up in the thicket from hell. Reckon I’ll take Mr. C along and just ease up through there. Hoping to find a couple of squirrels on the ground digging around.
glad u got out there.just please be careful out there.wishing u the best 👌

I’m glad you are feeling a lot better.
Just don’t overdo it and be patient.
I love rabbit just as much as squirrels 🐿️

I’d like to see pictures of your sling Fred.
Here's a few pics of the sling on the Crockett. This is the first time on my Crockett. I used it for my SxS 12ga and my CVA Express Rifle SxS .50, the CVA is a heavy gun. I've had this sling for 25 years.
As far as fitting the Crockett Rifle I feel is just fine. It's adjustable for length.

A close up of how it fits the crescent buttstock. How it hangs. One of the pictures is where I slid the top loop down to the forearm to keep it tight to the top of the barrel out of the way of the sights. If loose it can and will get in the way of you sights. To mecit no big deal, I just figure away around something of it's not working and make work for me.
I like it and will be getting a couple more for my others guns.

Looks good buddy. Both form, and function👍

Jim, that is the type I prefer and trust the most, especially for tree stands. I have the same setup on my New Englander. Too bad the other (actually all) traditional ML manufacturers do not offer that option.

I'm most likely going to purchase and use the lace-up type on my Crockett. For my GPR, due to the weight, I'm really wanting to find a way to install one of my homemade slings that is somewhat like it your pic above. I especially like the option of the quick disconnect. Two of my slings are interchangeable between several unmentionables, my New Englander, and my crossbow. Just disconnect and connect to either of them.

Looks good, Fred. I really like it.

I have found one that is mostly like that one for my Crockett. Not sure if I like the way it attaches around the front of the barrel. For best balance and functionality, it really needs to attach out farther for my liking. So whatever I get must attach farther out and stay put. No sliding. Not sure how I'm going to achieve this but there is a way, I'm sure. By running a taller front sight bead, I believe that might help facilitate the process.

Well, about an inch of snow on the ground this morning. Cloudy and cold right now but supposed to be sunny and about 33* midday. Now that I can see down into that thicket behind my house much better, its very tempting to go in there again and ease around after the sun shows up. I never knew there were so many downed logs and treetops for rabbits to hide in there until yesterday.

If not that, then I do plan on going to retrieve my trail cam late morning in the thicket from hell. So, with the snow, perhaps I can see squirrels on the ground in there. That's if any are out and about today. Need to try to find my snow camo that I used out west. The stuff works very well.

A question for the North American members. Is it common or accepted practice on your locality to poke the Eastern Grey Dreys, Then shoot them as they emerge/flush?

I'm guessing not, but it's fairly common in the UK when the leaves are off the trees, purpose made poles are available.

I'm not sure but I don't see how that could be accomplished, considering dreys are most always up high in trees.

Well, well. The weather people lied again. Imagine that! Supposed to have been severe clear all day. Its after noon here and its still cold and cloudy with a cold North wind. I don't foresee squirrels coming out in this weather.
