What's is..

A percussion smoothbore for this. In a small cal round ball.

Do they exist?
Do you need the rifled barrel?

I don't want a traditions Anything. Sorry.

I don't buy many guns. So if I get one.

I don't have a flintlock so it is an option to consider because it's an option. I'm also thinking I wouldn't mind leaning how to use one of those. If I'm not buying allot of guns I might try to kill both problems at ounce. Flintlock new thing squirrel hunt new thing has to be a good thing.
You said no Traditions anything? Are you speaking from personal experience, or just what you've heard (read) thrown around? I know several guys that own both Traditions and CVA's that would beg to differ. I know a fella who can pop steel all day with his Traditions Shenandoah rifle in 36 caliber. And that's with Pyrodex P. I believe there is one for sale on this site as I type this.

What's cva made for a squirrels?.

I have 3.. I like the kibble option for my last gun to get and call it good

Tc choke tubes turkey
MM deer
Dp10 upland. Rabbit
Kibler squirrels then deer.

4 guns. I'll have a flint

Kibler flint. Covers more ground than just squirrels. I like that. I'd like to practice with squirrels and try for deer with that.

My kids going to want some guns. My wife needs a couple at the same time. To many guns to buy before I know it.

even playing golf. My short set is 4 clubs. 3 irons and a putter.

I have a CVA Squirrel rifle in .32, and a CVA Varmint also in .32. Both excellent for chicken of the tree. And that Squirrel rifle would be a good one for your wife to use, and your daughter to grow into. The Varmint rifle has a heavy barrel, not so good for ladies and kids.

Trigger, flintlocks and squirrel hunting are good things for sure. If you're serious about both here is some options.
Kibler Colonial comes in .50. .54, and .58 caliber. All calibers come in Smoothbore and rifled. A .50 Smoothbore might suite you.
He also offers the Fowler, now these come in 20ga and 16ga. Not a small bore but an option. You could also buy yourself a .32, or a .36 caliber flintlock and send it to Bobby Hoyt and he bore it out to a .410 Smoothbore.
I know you stated that yeah won't buy a Traditions anything, but I have to say their Crockett rifles are a great little gun. Plenty of folks on this thread can verify this. I spoke to Bobby Hoyt and said he can bore it out to a .410 Smoothbore. The Crockett is percussion though.

Food for thought.
Rusty, is there a Rusty Shackleford here? Jim Kibler line one mister Shackleford 🤣

There are more than one. I'll leave it at that. But real good fellas.

Is trapping here at all popular?
On a search I get nothing about trapping anything around the forum.

It's not popular here? don't bother?.I mentioned I'd think they were doing allot of both back then.

I did find one member trapping things and he is cool... looking around more.

Working on that. I'm closer to doing that I think. Taking a course for it is interesting to me.

I'm headed to find a trappers forum now though. If you know where everyone is it would help. They seem like dead forums that I find. Maybe Facebook?

8" of new snow here in SE MN. A couple furry friends visiting my feeding station early this morning. Also had four good healthy looking deer back in the woods, but no good chance for a pic.View attachment 369922View attachment 369921
Snowing here in PA now. Wish I were squirrel hunting. Promised mamma I'd help her with baking cookies and what nots for Christmas.

Thanks for posting.

It’s only a matter of days before hopefully, Ed starts a 2025/2026 squirrel hunting thread. Fingers crossed 🤞. What ever has everyone’s knickers in a wad could work itself out by the new year and we can all start fresh. 🥳. Personally, I like all the hunting, weather, dog, gun names, types of muzzys we use, how we are all feeling and all that and then some. I’ve learned a lot and contributed some as well. I appreciate what you’ve done Ed…

Thank you,

Anthony
Thank you for your input, Anthony. Much appreciated.

I am working on trying to get this thread back on track like it used to be. Due to all the great squirrel hunting information contained within, from some awesome members, I would hate for it to go the wayside. However, as you have seen, there has been a little friction going on since one particular poster showed up and chooses to flood the thread with many posts on one page. Much of it is jibber-jabber nonsense and/or off topic. This is flat sad and doesn't have to be that way. Also, I have gotten quite a few PM's and/or texts complaining of this. Several members has informed me that they now have him on ignore.

I am trying but considering I'm no moderator, my options are limited. I am sure that as a group, we can pull this thread back together.

Just ignore them kinda people is all I can say. I tried reaching to an individual to politely let know to stop his crap.
