Thanks for the info. This is a problem I’ve always dreaded so any suggestions are appreciated.
Thad, I don't know if you have tried this method or not. However, I've viewed a few YouTube videos of people hunting them at night with NV scopes. Many of those folks were using certain "unique repeatable" unmentionables that resembles current battle field weapons in appearance. I would think that when combined with bait, that would be a quick way to kill a bunch of bacon. It would also be a great way of thinning out the coyote problem.

Fortunately, those vermin are not here in this area yet. They are said to be one county to the east and one to two counties south of here. My guess is, if those destructive things make their way here, it will cause havoc on what squirrel woods I have left to hunt. The turkeys are bad enough on the ground here, in terms of finding deer sign.

I can envision a major war brewing if those evil vermin do make it here.

Good morning to all.
I haven't being hunting the Slough or WMAs. We kicked into over time. Busy, busy , busy. As soon as I get a chance I'll be out there. Fortunately squirrels are year around now. So I'll be able pop a few here and there. As long as the Bot Flys haven't got to them.
As far as them there pigs I may have a one or 2 that came through. I noticed a small amount of rooting. Also saw road kills east of me about 1/2 mile away. Used to be a good number of them a few years back. Farmers and ranchers hired some trappers to thin them pigs out. Ya got kill atleast 80% of the population to somewhat control them.
I live a about 3 miles from a National Cemetery, it bumps up to a large WMA. It had a large population of wild pig. It was a sad thing when the wife and I saw how they rooted up the resting places of our Men and Women who Protect our great country. Notice I said had. The FWC hired commercial trappers to come in with huge traps that would trap 20, 30 or more at once. Not sure how it knew when to shut the door but that was very effective. I saw about 6 or 8 pigs in the
5 plus years. Wife and used to see strings of pigs 20 plus sometimes in different ares the same day while squirrel and or deer hunting.
Good luck with thinning them out Thad.

Another morning without much to show but at least it wasn't too bone chilling cold.

You are correct Ed. And I recently spent over a years worth of my BP budget buying a decent thermal scope. And I have it mounted on one of my “unique repeatable unmentionables”. Just got it sighted in a few days ago. Bought a thermal monocular too, so I have gear now, just have to put them to work.

Well now, it’s all gravy from here then. I hope you clean up on those nasty things.

Although I haven't been able to get out and go hunting much lately I was able to shoot my new gift from my wife. It's a Pedersoli .36 caliber Frontier Flintlock "Hannah".
I was able to try out my early Birthday Gift from my Feral Brother Tom, a really nice Hunting Bag. The squirrel call was a gift from Tom also, love them both. I tried out my bags over my shoulder I just walked around out back, carrying my rifle. It's a very practical size. I shouldered the rifle a few times. It felt good even with the hunting bag.

The rifle is new and the rifling are sharp, I'll shoot it some more. I might take some ScotchBrite to the bore. It was definitely cutting my patches.
I'm looking forward to getting out and hunting with both. I'm sure I'll get used to both. I'll need to sight her in, a little bit tighter groups.

I think that .36 will stop a smaller hog if I was to run onto one squirrel hunting.

Nice making friends on the fourm.
Thanks buddy.😉👍

I meant to point out as to how well My Hunting Bag built. It's quality made, nice heavy leather, stitching is great. The strap fits good over the shoulder. Sadie's cousin Hannah is going to has some hunting stories to tell.
It looks good with Blondie my Woodsrunner.
