My .32 has deeper grooves than yours. For this reason I use a .311" ball and .024" canvas patches. I never wipe a rifle bore when I'm at the range. The thick patch cleans the bore as the prb is seated. Hoppes is what I use for lube when shooting, with the exception of TOW mink oil when hunting.

I’m still waiting to get out and try the .315 balls i bought with a .010 patch. The .310’s with a .010 loaded ridiculously easy but i wasn’t getting the kind of groups y’all are describing with this Crockett. If this thread is still active when i can get out i’ll post some pics.
By the way (red face), i was faced with the necessity of replacing the aluminum arrow-ramrod it came with when i launched it into (approximately) the Sputnik orbit. I bought a solid brass one from Deer Creek and it works very well, adding just a little more weight up front. CAUTION- buy a t-handle for it because the rod has to flex very slightly as it’s inserted into the stock. Not a problem with a wood or aluminum rod but the t-handle eliminates the problem. I had to use pliers to learn that lesson.

P.S. wouldn’t it be a hoot if the next space shuttle passed that old Sputnik and got a picture of that old ramrod stuck clean through it? Them’d be braggin’ rights!

Why does the rod have to flex when inserting it in the stock? My aluminum rod doesn't flex when going in. My brass rod is just a little too large diameter to fit, so I'm unable to test it. But I'm curious what's causing the problem. Is it an alignment problem with the thimbles? Or some issue with the retaining spring?

Unk for sure, could be the alignment of the thimbles and ramrod channel, or maybe the retention spring. I haven’t disassembled it yet, too busy looking for another chance to go shoot it. When i do take it apart, it will be to refinish the stock. Previous owner had burned in some faux striping and Mama wants a different look on her rifle. No real problem as long as i got that t-handle.

Deer Creek had the correct diameter rod for the .32’s.

I take it from your remarks that you don't take the barrel out to clean it? So guessing you're using synthetic powder? Anyhow ...
When I got my Crockett (new from Midway), the thimbles were loose and I had to tighten the screws on them. The outside is nicely done, but the inletting is left in a pretty crude state. However, most of the ramrod channel (routed into the stock) is accessible when you pull the barrel, as is the spring . So if it's a matter of something hanging up in there, it is likely not difficult to solve that problem with a little scraping or sanding.

Let me rephrase - i do remove the barrel to clean. However, my focus over the last couple of cleanings has been on the chore itself and not isolating the reason for the ramrod issue.
I’m hoping it will be simple fix as you suggested.

Picked up a .32 traditions deerhunter last month. Using a .310 rb .10 wonderlube patches . 20 gr pyrodex P. Shot several rounds with no fouling problems. I wouldnt do more than a half dozen shots without swabing.

You'll be lucky if you can do that many with the Wonderlube. But I think the Pyrodex may be helping you there.
