I take it from your remarks that you don't take the barrel out to clean it? So guessing you're using synthetic powder? Anyhow ...
When I got my Crockett (new from Midway), the thimbles were loose and I had to tighten the screws on them. The outside is nicely done, but the inletting is left in a pretty crude state. However, most of the ramrod channel (routed into the stock) is accessible when you pull the barrel, as is the spring . So if it's a matter of something hanging up in there, it is likely not difficult to solve that problem with a little scraping or sanding.
