5 shots!!! You musta been at the range all day!!! :rotf: :rotf:

Well yeah. We have a range at our hunting lease which I generally have all to myself for a day of fun. I have a little hooch on the club campground, go there Friday evening with three or four guns, shoot all day Saturday, and head home Sunday morning with a pound less powder in my supply.

A five-shot target is my standard when chronographing a load.

The tree line is 340 yards. I've shot my .45 Renegade with a 1:30 twist Green Mountain barrel at the 300 yard target with a 10X scope mounted. The load is shown on the target below.

The gun was sighted in for 200 yards when I shot that 300 yard target. Here's the 200 yard one.

While I would like to hate a scope on a muzzleloader, the older I get the better the idea sounds. The sights on my rifles are not a clear as they used to be.

AMEN brother rr11

We are the same age, and I have started adding peeps to my iron sighters. Pedersoli Ghosts with a bit of trim work and some blueing look quite natural sitting on the tang. And they have pretty much saved the sport for me. All I have to do is get the front sight in focus, and it's a hit out to a hundred (or better).
And yes, I too have a few scopes, just not on any front stuffers.

i use swiss 3f for all long gun calibers, from .32 to .62 and everything in between, for both tube and pan - only one horn needed.
