That sure is a nice flinter ya got Hamourkiller.

It is .58 and uses the Round faced British/Virginia lock. I'll certainly post up my shooting experiences with it.

Getz swamped barrel.

I have been shooting a Renegade caplock with the GM .58 bbl and just love that rifle. It shoots fantastic PREDICTABLE groups. (Palm sized at 100yds) I hope to do better with the longer sight radius on this rifle.

I shoot like I would hunt, first shot from a clean barrel second with out wiping. Then wipe well, dry and shoot two more times until 10 shot group. Ox Yoke wonder wad and ox yoke lubed pillow ticking with a Hornady RB (Mr. Rounballs recomendation) 125 grs 2F KIK.

I have never fired a flintlock but am looking forward to it. Every thing is ordered and now it is just a matter of time.

I have enjoyed reading everyones experiences and hope to add my owne.

To get ready for the pan flash I broke my 4" S&W 44 mag out of mothballs and fired some full mag loads from it. With the pain in the hand and fireball infront of the face I was still able to hold a decent group at 25yds. Sure hope that helps me keep that head down and eyes focussed down range.

This is a great site and thanks to all who keep it going.

SUPER! If I were to have a gun built by someone, Al Martin would be the man.

Wow, that is very nice. I know you will enjoy shooting that gun. It will be like night and day, compared to a renegade.

I met Allan at Dixon's a coupla years ago. Not only is he an excellent builder, but he is also an all around nice guy who is more than willing to share is expertise with the inexpert.

"STARTING AT THE TOP IS SURE A NICE WAY TO GO !"
I love That statement!!!
That gun is shure a KEEPER !!!
If I owned it I would KNOW I made it to HEAVEN...
I sure would wanna take that one with me when I go!

 Well, it was clearly worth the wait!! Beautiful Gun. And I am sure you will be a proud man at the range. You got your moneys worth and more from Allen.

Wonderful indeed. I chose Allen to build a gun as well. A Lehigh -- I'm still about a year out -- 3 years but your gun and those on his website convince me I've chosen the right man for the job. He is indeed a great guy to work with and more than willing to talk until you get exactly what you want. As he told me, "you only do this once, so do it right." For most of us that's true. His guns cost a fair penny but when you factor in the 3 year wait, a hundred bucks in a pot each month will see the gun paid by the time he's finished.

Enjoy what I'm sure will be the best of your life!

Thank you all for the kind words.

Besides Mr. Allen's personality and quality of work, the recomendations of the various members of this forum had a lot to do with choosing him for the builder. Thanks for the help.

I will post some range reports and pictures in the near future. From what I have read in the historical posts I am sure the first few trips will be trying but fun. We will see if flinchitis rears its ugly head or not.

Yall take care and thanks again for having such a great site.

Congrats on a fine rifle from a fine builder! I'm waiting on a E.K. custom and you just made me start thinking about it again! I had a real toss up between the two builders and could only pick one. Now after seeing ours I am thinking about putting more pennies away and getting on another waiting list!

Good luck and good shooting.

Don't even think about it. You want to shoot a bunch before you start seriously patterning, so shoot offhand a bunch first. With an upright posture your eyes are farther away from the vent than when hunched over a bench. Felt recoil is less, too. After 200 shots, then start adjusting the sights and load. By then you'll not even notice the flash.

Concentrate 100% on the target. Focus. Use the force . . . oh wait, that's something else.
