Yes, Flintlocks and Women...I told my Bride of 42 years that while we've been looking forward to this 3 day weekend together, I had a new family member showing up Friday that I needed to slip off with Saturday morning.

And my jaw dropped too when the Virginia first arrived but for a different reason...I thought the rifle was just drop dead gorgeous like it was with the honey stain & browned metal...in fact I told them that it was fine just like it was in an attempt to try and save them some rework time & money...but the stock was the main thing, just too long and had to be shortened to the LOP spec...but they wanted to get it all according to the original spec.

Knowing that I frequent Internet ML forums and have been very supportive of them, I can't imagine this thing coming back in any condition short of spectacular...we'll see tomorrow

Yes it was spectacular. I love the way the curl in the butt lookes like it is eusing out of the top and dripping down the sides. Waiting to read your report of how She shoots.

Bill.been looking at the TVM site and your gun..Was your gun,s stock the premium ++ or the Super premium,Might drop the hammer on either a Leman ,Virginia or a Tennessee ..Ray

Actually Matt referred to as a select piece of maple that was graded a step above super premium

SIMPLY PERFECT !!

Early Virginia arrived back today in perfect condition.

Stock physically shortened to 14+1/4", fits perfectly.

Davis front trigger is smooth as glass, 2.5 lbs.

Going to the range at first light...

It'll be tomorrow afternoon before I'll get time to make up a set and get them up

Wow! That's fast. Can't say I'm totally surprised, never had the sort of issue you did but did experience similar customer service -

Glad to hear you got your rifle back and am waiting to hear your first range report.

I'm thinking of ordering a TVM Southern in .40...

:hatsoff:

Glad to hear it. I figured Matt would do a first rate job. Looking forward to seeing your pictures of the refinished rifle. Basset

Ah! Now were talking! :)

That's what I've come to expect with those triggers.

I suspect that after you've broken her in and get it zeroed it will be your favorite gun.

Oh, you will still like your TC's and you will even shoot them sometimes but when you first think about going out to shoot you will reach for the Virginia. :)

I've had that thought myself...just like I stopped reaching for caplocks after getting into Flintlocks, I can see the same thing happening with this different style rifle...and being its new I already know I'll be reaching for it from now until hunting season, then through hunting season until January...so I've already started wondering about selling off another set of Hawkens and having him build another Virginia in a small caliber...getting on it years as I am I don't need as many MLs sitting around as I've accumulated anyway...

I think we all saw that coming. But I didn't think it would happen before you even got to the range with your new rifle.

Glad to hear Matt and Toni made everything right. I've been considering an Early Lancaster from them, so it's nice to hear that they go the extra mile to make sure their customers are happy. Everybody makes mistakes...it's what they do to correct it that tells the real story.

Actually been thinking that way since I decided to order this rifle back at the first of the year...just didn't want to commit until I'd gone through one and used it, etc...heck it might turn out that I don't even like this thing.

I know from past experience whenever I get multiples of something I like them to be the same brand/model...for example all my hunting/trap/skeet shotguns over the years have been Remington 1100s/1187s...same design, look, feel, handling, safety location, etc, no matter which one I happen to be using at any given time.

I go back and forth on it though...knocking on 64, not sure how much longer I'll keep up an interest in this stuff anyway...may just keep this one and a smoothbore, sell everything else off...dunno :hmm:
