WOW!! Just WOW!!

I've looked for a NICE original (or even remodeled) MLDB for years & have seen ZILCH that's half as nice as that one. - Even for WAY more $$$$$$ than a pensioner can afford.

It shoots very well but the barrels are cylinder bored so I don't fire at birds any further than 25-30 yards. At that distance, the gun is lethal.

At 25yards seems a bit close to me for pheasants for true cylinder barrels.

Certainly depends on the shot charge in use. Most times I'm only using 1 oz in my CYL bored 12s because flushes are close. That certainly restricts my range if longer shots are offered.

And of course his could well be wild birds like ours pointed and flushed over dogs, rather than driven birds you've written about.

If you mean 25 is too close to shoot, let them fly just a bit further before popping a cap. Average distance for a flush on our hunts is around 10 yards. In a couple of creek bottoms flushes are more like 5 yards and I shoot only 7/8 oz in a 12.

Over many decades and not only driven I have shot game over dogs be it walking up with a brace of spaniels and flushing pheasants from rough cover .The more easy way is shooting over pointers or setters this is when birds are taken at close range and I seen on many occasions when birds are shot at these ranges they are not fit to eat. To shoot with a small load can have a disadvantage at birds taken at the usual distance
