Thanks for posting that classic photo of what English flint nodules look like after being extracted from the chalk....

 Some of those chunks look like they would be big enough for that Wall Gun in your video :rotf: :rotf:

Fess up Squire..... you went over to Tom Fuller's place in the dark of night and swiped all the flint he had in his driveway....

Stupid "Yank" question here... what kinda wall are you going to build? Will the sharp edges be troublesome?

That's just not right building a wall out of all that fine flint !!!! :haha: :haha:

Flint is the local stone, there are a lot of old flint buildings and walls around here. You just set the flints in concrete with the black bit showing. The new wall is a sort of hybrid affair, brick with flint panels, it's quite attractive when done right. The trick to it is showing more flint than concrete

Squire,
I sure hope you post a photo of the
finished wall...BTW If I'm not out of line here
what does a ton of that flint material run and
are there different grades? :hmm:

I think a nice outdoor fireplace made from those would be cool, then just run a striker against the wall to start your fire...

Nah,SR is doing a pre-ban stockup.Who would suspect a garden wall :blah: !(Just Kidding)

Hi Snake-eyes

This is selected flint at £350 a ton with good flat black edges, you can get it for £200 a ton but there would be some work to do

To answer Lone Carabiner's question, I assume the cement takes to the chalk rather than the flint. The chalk gets progressively harder as you get closer to the core until it will actually strike a spark. A flint wall lasts well, there are flint walls hereabouts dating back to the 12th century

best regards

Squire Robin

Gentlemen, prepare yourselves. Squire Robin's photo is proof of the English intent to reclaim the Colonies. If we're unworthy of our forefathers, we'll be singing, "God Save the Queen" and drinking warm beer, eating kidney pies and snacking on blood sausages.

Sorry Squire Robin, I couldn't resist. I also admire your taste in selecting flint nodules for your rock wall.

Things have changed, you'd be drinking German lager, eating chicken tikka masala and wondering if you might be done for racism for singing the national anthem, (which is a dismal dirge anyway, I much prefer Rule Brittannia)

All together now...

When Britain first, at hea'ens command
Arose from out the azure main
This was the charter etc

I give it 4/5 stars... (Clicky Here) It's got a good beat and I think I could dance to it.... :)

Last time I was over there I had a layover at Heathrow so I grabbed a room. I went to a local pub and had Bangers and Mash for dinner and in the morning I had Bubble and Squeaky. Before I left I stopped by the same pub and the owner recommended that I try his fine fellows :shocked2: it's some kind of meatball ...... I knew it was time to leave.

Maybe ya need to tune yer ear with a couple pints of stout, then it'll sound right. :rotf:
