True story- my brother and I were at a public range years ago setting up to shoot muskets. A bunch of black rifle types were giving us the sideways glance at our antiquated muzzleloading stink poles. They were popping away with ARs at an ammo can on the 50yd berm and one was watching through a spotting scope calling hits and misses. Well, my brother loads up, draws down on their can and BOOM! The can flies up and over the berm with a very obvious large hole. Guy on the scope- "HOLY J... C... WTF was THAT!?" Brother standing there with a smoking 1863 Springfield says "Assault Rifle, Model 1863, any questions?" The look on those guys faces was as they say, priceless.

You guys are all feeding into the "assault rifle" misnomer for weapons not remotely close to an assault rifle. It can't be an assault rifle if it isn't select fire. It's just that simple. This re-defining terms that they love to do is a dangerous pathway. Keep it up and the gun-grabbers will be calling your smokepoles "assault rifles" that need to be banned and confiscated.

They have already coined the words "assault weapon" to refer to semi-auto rifles that appear to them as "scary". And semi-auto rifles were originally invented in 1885. They think all of the guns that look like AR's or AK's are full-auto machine guns and weapons of war even though no military uses or would even consider using the AR-15 semi-auto rifle that is available to citizens. Cap and Ball rifles were the norm just 20-years prior to that...not a stretch to have them go after percussion next. Then flintlocks. "That longrifle looks scary, we better ban it."

They came for the Jews and since I wasn't a Jew, I didn't speak up. Then they came for the blacks and since I wasn't black, I didn't speak up. Then they came for the Latins and I'm not Latin, so I didn't object. The Asians were next and since I'm not Asian, I didn't speak up. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak up for me...

You'll do this to yourselves if you're not careful. Words have meaning and they carry weight. You can't let them re-define your words or they will use them against you...hint: they already are!

Actually, if and when they try to ban BP arms, it won't be because of such language. I'm actually surprised they haven't already tried as black powder IS a low-grade explosive.

I'm getting a little too old to do any fast running these days. That's a younger man's game now. I tried the running / reloading about 5 years ago. This summer, I want to find someone to fly a drone about 50 feet in front of me at eye high when I do this again. This time, I'll not use the ramrod. I'll use an undersized roundball, smack the stock on the ground to seat the ball & then fire. My goal to perform this in less than 20 seconds.
Here's the attempt in 2016:
